For quite a while I've been meaning to try out KR16 rules in all their glory. I've been reading some good gaming reports lately and has kind of inspired me to do one. I thought I'll try out KR16 rules. So here we go, a quick KR16 AAR.

First is the prologue, or the fluff. To give a background story and an idea of what is going on.

OKI Corporation Power Compound; Terra Cimmeria region; Mars

picture

Terra Cimmeria power plant supplies the region with nearly half of its power. Boasting a state of the art turbine hall and nuclear reactor room. The plant also operates a water pump room which feeds water from an underground lake into a pressure holding Hex2Go water container. On site there are also two small atmospheric processing stations which help the region to terra-form. Looking after security of the site are five OKI security bots. Which patrol the perimeter 24.5 hours a day.

Below we can see the compound, with the large turbine hall and the roof mounted wind turbines which run the generators underneath. For when the wind isn't up, the turbines draw steam from the water pump house. Water is melted from radioactive Newtron rods which are inserted into the ground and used to convert the underground frozen water into steam.

Water is the life blood of any planet and because water on Mars is hard to acquire. A water management programme was introduced called Aqua Connect. Basically, all corporations have a responsibility under the Aqua Connect programme to locate, mine and distribute water.

Of course this can make water a very valuable commodity. Who knows, who might want to steal your water.

How fun.

Oooh interesting use of the OKI stuff. I am hanging on for more… also, what are those 2 things by the MHU ? they look like sheep ?

greg95430 Jul 2013 10:38 a.m. PST

lol, no not sheep. They're the OKI security bots.

The opening scene.

•A convoy of vehicles appear. Probably a water tanker returning back with its escorts.

picture

•What's this? The cargo truck pulls up and men start to assemble something.

picture

•The siege gun soon creates a breach in the wall.

picture

The fighting starts…

•At this point, all vehicles and the two squads have passed all their command rolls. Soon they have reached the breach and the first squad attempts to flank the OKI security bots squad by using smoke (fire markers, can't find my smoke markers). They then move around the turbine hall, closely followed by the second squad, who are quick through the breach. Two security guards take a few pot shots from their security platform. But receive a shaken marker for their trouble. The mercenary's have got their empty tanker to the gate. They just need a squad to unlock the gates!

picture

•While the first squad fights it out with the bots, the second Merc team moves to secure the control room (MHU). Then they can open the gates!

picture

•The first team engage the bots, but with a save of 3+ and two weapons per bot, they're tough. However, the merc's are putting down smoke so the bots are finding it hard to shoot back. One bot is destroyed and the rest receive a shaken marker so have temporarily gone offline.

picture

•Things aren't going well for the OKI Corp. One of the OKI security guards has received a fatal wound and the second, passing his command roll. Falls back from the security platform. Another bot lost and the second Merc team managed to break into the control room on their second turn and opens the gates to allow the APCs and their tanker in.

picture

•Meanwhile…….the idling siege gun crew get a nasty alarm call when their cargo truck takes a crippling shot.

More to follow….

So many nice touches, where did you get the STOP decals and so on, are they the ones you made yourself?

greg95431 Jul 2013 3:05 a.m. PST

Indeed they are AB.

Continued….

•It's the RDF!!!!! And they brought along a super heavy tank.

picture

•Not much happens for a few turns as most units fail their command rolls. The siege gun gets off a number of shots. But the RDF armour is too thick and soon the tank passes its command roll and destroys the gun.

picture

•As the RDF move up from the North. The Merc's get their tanker in position and start nicking the water.

picture

•With the last bot doing what I call saving&failing do manage to get the odd shot off with its light missiles. But the APC's armour proves sufficient. With the APC's using the last bot for target practice and their tanker rapidly filling up the squads start to mount up.

picture

•With a blinding roll of dice all mercenary vehicles pass their command rolls and high tail it out of the south gate.

picture

•Just in time as a RDF Pathmaster screams in through the North gate and dismounts the squad.

picture

• At this point it looks like the mercenary's are going to make a quick get-a-away. After what was working out to be an effective smash and grab. But, in their rush the lead APC just clears the compound walls giving the RDF tank LOS. It passed its command roll and slams a shell into the thin side armour of the APC. The damage proves far too much and the vehicle explodes. Only 2 of the Merc squad pass theirs saves and make it out.

picture

•With the south gate open, the RDF squad gets LOS on the rear of the second Merc APC.
They fire their rocket which scores 3 hits. Knocking out the APC's running gear and weapon.
But it's not over for the damaged APC. The RDF Pathmaster passes its command roll and shoots its GMG. Destroying the APC and the squad inside fairs even worse than the first. With only one guy making it out.

picture

•With the tanker failing its command and going nowhere. The RDF and the 1 remaining bot round up the remains of the Merc force and capture back the water.

Nice AAR!

Angel Barracks01 Aug 2013 9:07 a.m. PST

I am torn, the RDF should indeed rock and roll and rule the day.
But those poor Ramjacks…

So sad.

What make are the bots?

Basically the other bits and bobs. Are from various parts from various things. Like, Airfix, toy soldier parts etc…

The roof fans/vents and the exhaust on the OKI utility buildings are from Spartan games. Scenery from their spaceship range I think.

Angel Barracks16 Aug 2013 5:12 a.m. PST

The bigger buildings are what Greg has made from cobbling together various OKI walls and so on in a cunning fashion..

What are the APCs in the first post (not the Ramjacks the 4 wheeled apcs)
