Another army idea for my 15mm setting…

Seems to me you have worked everything out, I say go for, I like the idea and the models you picked, should work out very well

Someday when I have an excess of both free time and money, I shall liberally steal and plunder your ideas.

I always thought that the idea of a massive clone army battling a droid army was a great concept but Lucas executed it poorly.

The droids would be terrifying but I've never seen anyone do them right. Terminator got close. It just doesn't make any sense to have a robot carry a weapons with hands. One actuator for operating doors or maybe integrated weapons like the super battle droids. A carried weapon is too easy to steal or loss. A human opponent cannot fire a hard mounted weapon. You just need to develop a hard point to attach different weapon loads and then the sensors in the gun can be fed back to the droid.

I also have no clue why you would want line after line of biped robots. Maybe a few for taking buildings and operating human tech but for the most part small tank like robots would be much more efficient and cheaper. If you need something bigger then a hexapod or something but Biped isn't worth much as a platform unless your trying to make them look humanoid.

I did like the idea that the clones had full helmets. Make sense due to them looking the same. I'd probably sprinkle in more variety. In Star Wars they fiddles with the genes a bit to create the different trooper variants but it would be easier to just find the spec ops guys. Make a team of guys and just keep printing the same 5 or 6 dudes. Officers would likely be a different template then grunts. Lets face it, it takes a special skill set to be a good grunt. Too smart or too stupid and you don't get a good one.

Might be entertaining to come up with some scenarios for a droid on clone mass war outside of the Star Wars stuff. Something really gritty.

@ War Monkey

So many ideas, do little time… Next order of business will be the PLA VTOLs!

@ Yquilla

Free time and money aren't in unending supply here either…

But by all mean, the ideas are put online to be taken! Be sure to let me/us know if you do something out of it!

@ CorSecEng

I know what you mean… Why do the robots even speak to eachother? And the infantry squares of droids… They should have made Grievous a short droid with a bicorn and a hand in his waistcoat!

Over the whole biped froid with hand held guns things: you can sort of make sense of it if you go with a human army whose soldier are gradually replaced by droids (not the SW scenario though)… It might (barely) make sense to make them able to use their human brother in arms, to drive their vehicles…

In his '16 hours war' ranges of paper models, Chris from Genet Models went with such a scenario for his Trilateral Union (not cylon) army leading to (or retroexplaining) three waves of equipment:

picture

1st wave: repurposed human stuffs, like a fighter-bomber with a human sized cockpit and a biped robot piloting…

picture

2nd wave: robot-built and -optimized human design, no more cockpit, the whole vehicle is a drone with just the "brain part" of a robot directly wired in the vehicle systems.

picture

3rd waves: entirely robot-designed vehicles, operating just like the 2nd waves drones but with alien shapes to account for their non human designers…

Making any sense?

Not what I was going for with the Organization of Unobtainium Exporting Planets though, I was clearly looking for the SW look.
