Played my first game of NMRIH to try to get a handle on the basics. I just played with 3 shot-callers, and only used zombies, not other survivors as the opposition. I really like the system, but if anyone else out there has played and can answer these questions, I'd appreciate it.

1. It seems there is no way to leave melee combat once you're in it. This presented a problem when one of my heroes was within 6" of a zombie spawning point. Every turn he was in melee combat, and he kept winning, but before he could move, another zombie spawned and would automatically charge him at the start of the zombie turn. This kept him effectively locked in the same spot for the whole game. Is this accurate? It just seems to me that there should be some way to break away.

2. If you disarm someone, does his weapon vanish? Or can he pick it up later?

I also came up with a house rule that I think makes more sense. If a zombie feast occurs within 6" of other zombies, they will move towards the feast rather than towards the closest survivor for that turn.

Hello!

1. A player can declare a Retreat, see page 29. That is some bad Initiative luck if the Zombies are always going first. Make sure you are doing that right on page 34.

2. Disarmed weapons are considered lost, but you could house rule it with a dropped weapon token and maybe a Survive! Check to pick it up.

Hope that helps!

I have the rule set. But I have not tried it out yet.
Looks interesting. Hoping it is fun to play.

Will be hoping to give it a spin soon.
