What on earth is the second pic? That's a new one on me. Looks like modified Chi-Nu hull with a Te-Ke turret – presumably a Kangaroo-type APC?

Japanese tanks are not that impressive for combat, but…..

I've always said that the value of a tank depends on what anti-tank weapons the other side has. If you only have a bolt action rifle and a hand grenade, that Ha-Go might as well be a Tiger tank.
