In my reading it seems the parachute containers used by German paratroopers are dropped at a rate of one per every three men. One source said they all contain the little wheels and arms so they can be pulled around the battlefield. Some say they are painted bright colors and others say they simply had bands of color on them. No one has identified the color of the parachutes.

Also, for the troops themselves, what color parachute did the WWII German paratroopers use?

How were their containers marked? What colors were they? Were they painted a standard German yellow or grey with bands of bright colors or overall bright colors?

Thanks for your help.

This sort of thing for cannisters perhaps? A repro, but you get the idea….

All the repro ones I've seen FJ re-enactors use are painted white and marked in a similar manner. On this one the bands were red and the tactical symbols black.

In the original edition of "Diving Eagles" from Flames of War, there are some pictures of German drop canister miniatures painted exactly as describe by Martin Rapier in his above post. Expanding only slightly: the bands and the diamond symbol are both in red in the "Diving Eagles" minis photos. Only one photo included a parachute which is white in color.

They used some camo chutes for canisters too (after a myth went round the FJ that the dyes effected performance and the soldiers wouldnt use them).
