Right now I charge $0.25 USD per figure for basing. When I base, let's say an order of 160 figures, 4 figures to a base that takes me a whole day (10 hours) in total. I get paid $0.25 USD x 160 = $40 USD for that so I'm actually working for less than $3 USD per hour after I deduct costs. I'm not okay with that so I'm going to raise my basing price soon.

How much per figures sounds like a fair price to you all for something that is optional. I mean, you can always do the basing yourself if you don't want to pay for it, but if you want to get your figures ready to game with right out of the shipping box, how much would that be worth to you?

At a minimum, you should double your pricing if you base as shown.

Price your painting and basing to what you feel comfortable with; anything else and the painting becomes a real chore. Clients who like your work will be fine as long as they get the quality you show in your pic!
That's what I found painting for others.
Good luck!

Yes what he said – for heaven's sake charge a fair price for your labour so that MMPS can go forward on a sound footing – you gave us all a scare last year!

For that quality I think double is fair.

Doubles all round!

I agree: it seems very fair- you're way too cheap for the quality I see in those pictures.

Agreed. That's some nice work, and you're not getting enough for it, especially if you're paying the materials cost as well as doing the labor.

Looks very nicely done to me. I'd work it out backwards. How much do you need to earn in a day?

I think you need to be charging at least $1 USD a base, even that doesn't seem very much.

Thanks gentlemen, the consensus seems to be that I should at least double my current price of $0.25 USD per figure and that is what I will do.

I charge $1.00 USD per base now Timmo and that is indeed not enough to pay for the time that I put in. I'm not looking to get rich trough MMPS but I don't want to work for less than minimum wages either. MMPS is mostly a labor of love but still, we need to eat too around here. :-)

Cheers
