Hi All,

Has anyone ever had a gaming table custom built before? I want to get one for my new house next year (should move in Feb/March) and my new gaming room should have a new gaming table.. the closest I have seen are the montyhaul ones but they don't have enough draws, dice trays etc etc…

Cheers,

TW.

You might have a look at GeekChiq:

They do very high end products. You should be able to get some ideas from their site even if you don't want what they have.

Thanks – way too expensive and I am in Australia… you're right though they provide ideas.

I'd look around for a reputable cabinet shop and see if they can't custom build a table for you.

Or just buy 4 cabinets and put a simple strut and MDF top onto it. That's what I did -- drawers at the end, middle is just a gap for putting boxes of figs/terrain into.

I had a gaming tabletop custom made for me by a furniture shop near by place – I wanted a 1.8m x 1.2m plank with a frame underneath to place over my dining table which could be stowed away when not in use. It turned out to be nicer than I expected and I use it when guests are over for dinner too.

So if you can't find a table of the size you want, then maybe start with a sturdy table and engage a carpenter to custom-build the top and get those drawer cabinets with wheels that fit just under the table that can double as side-tables for drinks and snacks duuring the game and stowed from view afterwards.

Rather than an expensive custom table, I recommend 6ft by 32 inch folding tables (plastic top with metal legs) with the longest six ft. wide game mat you can find.

This will give you total flexibility as to the size of war gaming table that you will need for each scenario. Between games you can easily and neatly stack them.

Second to Iron Duke's suggestion… I went with three 4x2 foot folding tables for my lower level gaming space and it works a treat. Put them all out for a 6x4 foot layout or just use two for a 4x4 surface. Plus they fold away to 2x2 feet for storage.

Thanks chaps… I wanted something that looked 'nice' as it's a brand new house etc… my current set-up is similar to that pictured though and is practical.

I will be commissioning them myself in the 1st half of 2014 once renovations are complete, a new house deserves a new table thumbs up
