Got some foundry paints to try as whati have don't seem to match the correct Green. However, the dragon palette seems very light what are people's thoughts? I was under the impression dragoons should be a darker Green rather than very light? |

I have always followed Rousselot coloration – dark green: link link link The old Osprey book on the dragoons is dead wrong! I like a dark green about the same density as the dark blue I use for the French infantry. GdeP |

Ah, the old French Dragoon Green Controversy™ shows up again. It's been a while. |

John the OFM is correct. Most of the questions regarding color of uniforms is open to interpretation. Color lots where different from manufacturers, dye faded over time, etc. My personal preference is to make my figures a little brighter on the table, rather than trying to do the "it was really dark. I use a dark forest green as a base, medium green highlight, and medium light grass green as a second highlight. It's all open to what you feel is right. |

Although the original colour of the dragoon uniform was a dark green, I've found over the years that a lighter green looks better on miniatures, with a lighter colour on 15mm figures than on 25/28mm. I tend to use Vallejo "deep green" flattened down with a touch of artist's colour Paynes Gray as the basic colour. |

It is a scale thing. Lighter than say 95th Rifles, OK, I accept. The real question is the highlights. Officers darker base and stronger highlights
.looks like velvet. Troopers less contrast, but, to be realistic, a lighter colour. Nothing like what you see in La Musee de L'Armee, these are 28mm figures. If you used the original colours your figures would seem black |
