Hi,
I decided to make in 1:100 scale the first tank ever – "Lincoln Macine Number 1" or "Little Willie" in 3DsMax.
The model is not yet finished. I need to make tracks; add more details to visors and some elements needs minor adjustments. I hope to finish it today or tomorrow. Please tell me what do you think? |

Thanx. I already updated the visors and corrected some minor issues with small details. Working on tracks now. |

Here is a list of future models, that I plan to do after Willie. These are real and prototype models and also vehicles that was never produced. These are early 20 century vehicles that you cant find in 15mm scale.

And some Interwar vehicles. All these tanks are ideal for historical, VSF, Wierd World War 1, Very British Civil War, Pulp games.

M2 Medium, yes, yes, yes!!! Will you be offering them for sale? And if so, will it be on Shapeways or something I can afford? |
Gunner Dunbar | 03 Jul 2013 3:48 a.m. PST |
Nice SF, these tanks would fit in very nicely with my 15mm Death Korps, I would use the small willie as an APCS. |
deflatermouse | 03 Jul 2013 4:16 a.m. PST |
I don't think you can get any of them in 1/72 or 1/76 either. |
SirFjodin | 03 Jul 2013 4:18 a.m. PST |
2 Texas Jack I would like to produce, them! I just do not know how :) At least I can create models, so maybe someone would produce them in resin. Shapeways is good, especially if you use frosted ultra detailed plastic. The problem is Shapeways tank will cost twice more than 15mm tanks from other manufacturers. Gunner Dunbar Glad you like Willie. I can also make one more variant of it. It was supposed to have turret with Vickers 2-pounder gun.
Also it was projected to have Approx 6 Madsen machine guns. Perhaps it was planned to have spontons like Female Mark1-5 tank. Here what I found in google images. Its fan made image, but who knows, maybe Willie was supposed to look like this.

2 deflatermouse Well, 3D model can be scaled up :) |

If these appear on Shapeways I would be VERY interested in ordering some. Cost is not a barrier if you only want a few. Pete |

Has anything come of these? I would be very interested in these in 1/72 scale. And I know a lot of people who'd like them in other scales. |

I second the request for Obyekt 279. If you get willie printed (or even just up on Shapeways), I'd be interested in a small quantity. probably 3 for my 15mm Quar. |

Thank you, SirFjodin, for your reply. As a lot of people have already said, you could just set up a shop on Shapeways and people could then buy your models, making their own decision about whether it is too expensive or not. As a rough guide for you, there is only one 1/72 scale Little Willie and it sells for £25.50 GBP. Matador Models sell it, and some people have problems trying to order from them. If your model was available at a similar price, but without the hassle of dealing with Matador Models, I'm pretty sure it'd sell. I know you have designed these in 1/100, but as you say, it's a simple matter to re-scale the designs. There are some other, simpler, things I'd like to see for WW1 as well, such as Lewis Gun barrels, petrol cans, and heads wearing Brodie helmets. I hope your project is not dead. I hope we will see something come of it. And please, feel free to join us on the Landships forum. |

Speaking of interwar and one-offs, here's a live one for you to consider:
The Char FCM 1 never got past the prototype stage due to the Great War ending. It packed a 105mm howitzer as its main armament in its original form. I say it screams "QUAR!!!" Another what-f is a later design that IMHO would be great for Weird War II and sci-fi applications alike:
link
Rejected by the French Army general staff on the grounds that the Char G1R exceeded the design requirements by mounting 75mm gun in the turret(!!!). Then of course there's this interwar beastie with IIRC a 130mm gun:
Again, rejected for *exceeding* the requirements laid down by the interwar French Army brass
