Has anybody tried this?

Bristles
Once the primer is dry, add the machine guns, radio antennae, etc. using bristles from an old toothbrush (this technique was recommended by Paul Hannah, a gamer in the Seattle area).
Take an old toothbrush and cut off a group of the bristles at the base using a sharp X-Acto knife. Then use super glue to attach these in the holes previously drilled for radio antennae, machine guns etc.
Once the glue is dry, use a sharp pair of scissors to cut the bristles to the correct length. The bristles easily accept paint, so they can be painted as appropriate.

I was just wondering if anybody has tried this, and is it worth the effort? Seems like you are going to need a VERY small drill…

Any thoughts?

All I can say is "why?" I can't understand why some people go to such lengths to detail a model which is so small and all it will take is some ham-handed gamer two seconds to flex the bristle and rub off the paint.

I was thinking the same thing myself…

You can also get small brushes with thin, black bristles, to eliminate that issue.

Yes, it works well, and looks good for guns, antennae, etc.

Yes it does work well. Jovian1 I think the answer is because he can. Paul has done some wonderful work with his aircraft and other gaming models. His nose art is very cool.

Never mind…
I guess I am too ham fisted to do it.

Just mangled up some Spitfires. frown
