Today I put on a pirate display at the Kapiti Wargames Club's open day. I say ‘display', because it wasn't a game as such, but just an excuse to lay out as much of my piratical terrain and figures as I could, in a static display piece.

I guess I could've just as easily played a game on the terrain, but I was too lazy to do so. Anyway, I just wanted to enjoy talking to the club members and any other spectators, and convincing people that good terrain needn't be too complicated.

Loads of piccies here:

Roly,
In my opinion you did the right thing. The static display is beautiful, and by not playing a game on it you were able to have the time to explain the ease of creation. That alone will keep many a chap busy thinking how they could tart up their own tables.

Good for you. Always nice to see great terrain. My similiar efforts have not yielded any fruit yet, but I keep trying.

"Simple but effective," the wargamer's equivalent of, "What, this old thing?"

VERY nice.

I display static terrain too, sometimes. When I feel lazy and prefer to talk about wargaming than playing! :-)

Really nicely done. Several items have made it onto my buying list since you have displayed them so well.

Holy cursed box of doublons! That is so cool!!!!

I use Graffam paper models but yours is amazing. Way beyond my budget (hence why I buy and build paper models) but consider the idea of doing the seabed and applying the mat on top of that stolen (borrowed – cloned – emulation being the ultimate form of flattery may be more appropriate? Eff it, it's a Pirate forum – I'm stealing it!)

Amazing resource TMP is, so much inspiration in so few clicks…
Great work, outstanding!
I'm going to keep trawling the forums til I find an AAR of yours. A table like that deserves a feast of scattered bodies.
I'm totally new to Pirate gaming – having only come into it last month after I saw Rebel Minis range.
Inspiring setup!

What are you using for ships?
