I finally got around to rebasimng and reorganizing these figures, which I bought fully painted from Jamie over 10 years ago; he had switched scales and had no need of them. Now they are ready to be the start of my own British army for Waterloo 2015, and then the Peninsula.
More pictures, a little discussion, and the plans to add some Old Glory infantry (gotta love the Army Card!), etc to build upon this start on my blog at: link Peter |

I love these old Minifigs. I switched to 15s a few years ago (mainly because it takes me ages to paint 25s) but these will always be my idea of how wargames figures should really look. |

They look nice, and from a standing position without my glasses on probably even better. |

And Caliver make the Minifigs range so you can easily pick up those missing command figures |

It's a matter of taste – but I don't think I would dip these. They look nice in their "clean" state. But
on the other hand

Ol' the memories are flooding back, but good ones. As for dipping, I wouldn't for two very good reasons: 01) They already look nice and dipping would just ruin them. Gonsalvo did a nice job at painting these and they look just right IMHO. 02) And this is the biggest reason. The dip method works best with lots of pronounced detail and overly detailed miniatures, and these old minifigs don't have that. How Gonsalvo painted them is the best way to go here. |

I used to have a ton of old 15mm Minifigs

Nice looking units. The officers have scarlet coats with a duller red for the ORs. |

To be clear, the painting was by the original owner, Jamie, 20+ years ago. I thought he did an amazingly nice job on them, especially the precision of the lace on the cuffs, wings, and chest. I considered adding Magic wash, which I use regularly now, but decided against it – I just didn't think it would add much to them given the painting style and the relatively smooth nature of Minifigs in general, as Nappy Buff observes. I also thought about staining the hands an faces a bit to bring out some depth and make the flesh shade less pale, but decided against that, too. Finally, I considered changing the belts and/or pants on the Buff faced units to buff, and ultimately decided to leave them as originally painted as well. Same thing for the coat shades points that the Doc makes – I will probably try that when I do the Old Glory figures myself (along with Wash, etc), but ultimately I decided to let the paint job stay as originally done. I do think these guys are eager to get back onto the wargames table and kick some French derrieres, though! Peter |

Peter, Nice looking unit for being 20 years old!! This brings back memories as I sold off my 25mm painted Minifigs back in the late 80's and the unpainted just in the last 2 years. John |

Love that vintage look. I agree they are perfect as they are. If I were to dip/wash anything, it would only be the horses. But I likely wouldn't even bother with that. |

Memories. The 69th was my second regiment of Brits back in the 70s. Exact same Minifigs. Wish I still had them all.. |
