This is a 1983 talk from Tomas Schuman, a former KGB officer who defected to the west circa 1970. He talks about Soviet methods of subverting societies, giving some cold war examples. He is an excellent speaker and very funny. This could be of historical interest for Cold War Gamers and might be interesting material for your cold war campaigns. YouTube link

It looks like a very interesting example of Cold War propaganda …but I'm not sure which. This guy says what his new employers like to hear: that all political opponents in the West are part of a Soviet subversion plan.

I don't think he said these things, over a decade after defecting, to please the US government. He seems to have been in the private domain at this point – unless you have a suspicion that he was still being paid by the US government to spread this message. It could be that he is spinning a yarn to sell books or tickets to these private audiences. We would have to look at his work and then compare it to what other defectors have said to have an idea about this. BTW, we also have the VERONA intercepts and documents released from the Soviet archive to consider. I hope you enjoyed the talk. Tomas Schuman is a great speaker, whether he is spouting propaganda or the truth
