How about a French 75 instead of a Boyes ATR? link Dave G |

The little carrier that could ! |

When it fires does it roll backwards on it's tracks, or end over end? |

I've seen pictures of some pretty cool conversions – I'm thinking about doing one of the Free French versions with Hotchkiss 25mm – but that little guy takes the cake. |

Another weird one- Renault R35 with a T26 turret! link |
ptdockyard | 21 Jun 2013 6:53 p.m. PST |
And the German answer to those cool Italian Gun Trucks. The driver looks less than thrilled with this set-up! link |

Well, that one is pretty easy. Buy an R35 and a T26. If you can find proof of a T26 chassis with an R35 turret, you have not wasted any money! Let's try putting a 155mm gun on that sucker and see what it can do. "Hier, Hans! Holden sie mein bier and watchen sie dis!" |

Does the crew have to jog behind? |

Doesn't look terribly practical/safe to me. However, major Becker fit a 105mm LeFH16 on a Vickers light tank chassis quite successfully, so who knows? Love Beute panzers! |

Really interesting pictures. Did anyone notice the Matilda in the Budapest 1945 picture? I'd like to see a German unit with one of those in their unit of Panthers. link |
Gaz0045 | 22 Jun 2013 5:32 a.m. PST |
The gun in the Matilda turret doesn't look like a 2pdr or the cs version
..Maybe a 20mm? |
ptdockyard | 22 Jun 2013 7:56 a.m. PST |
Interesting in that it appears to be in a Hungarian tank park, not German. |

link 20mm AA on a Bren carrier. Fascinating. Edit: Bren carrier jenga. link |
Trockledockle | 23 Jun 2013 3:53 a.m. PST |
I found this on the Matilda on the Missing-Lynx site. The author's thinking is that it was used by a German unit possibly as a recce tank. link |
ptdockyard | 23 Jun 2013 6:30 a.m. PST |
Given it's lack of speed, it may not make the best recce vehicle. At that point, though, beggars couldn't be choosers. |

You laugh John, but everyone's favourite WW2 equivalent of an Ork Mekboy (Baustab Becker)obviously heard your suggestion through the ether one night back in 1940, and said something just like that!
Nothing says "overkill" like a 15cm cannon on a Bren chassis! As for the Matilda, from what I recall, this was actually part of the equipment of an anti-partisan policing unit in the area, as they were also equipped with a rather eclectic mix of ex-Italian medium tanks as well, M14/41's from memory. |
PilGrim | 24 Jun 2013 6:03 a.m. PST |
That's a Vickers Light tank chassis not a Bren |

The driver of that CS8 conversion in PTDockyard's pic has a right to look concerned. I think they have simply removed the wheels from the lIG and dropped it on the passenger seat – you can see what looks like the axle sticking him in the side! |
green beanie | 24 Jun 2013 12:02 p.m. PST |
PTDockyard, would happen to have a side view of the Bren carrier with the French M1897 75mm gun mounted on it? I love the pic but would like to see it from the side for this is a German carrier conversion I have never seen before. |
WarHighlander | 26 Jun 2013 2:19 p.m. PST |
And that's a 10.5cm leFH16 as well, not a 15cm gun. |
