All,
This post was inspired by "Elbows" Shoot and Skedaddle Kickstarter on the Lead Adventure Forum but I've been using this for years. Go to your local Hardware/DIY store, and look for ceramic tile separators. These are off white, rubbery, cross shaped bits that tile setters place at the intersection of four pieces of tile. They come in various sizes and thicknesses. I bought a bag of maybe 100 several years ago, and painted them in colors according to the rules I was using at the time. They are durable and cheap.

Thanks for the heads up, I just happen to be off to the hardware store today so I will put those on my list. Good idea!

I keep saying I will make a Bloodbowl board using them, too mark the squares.

There are two kinds- floor tile ones are much larger.

When tiling, I use the method my dad recommended, rather than fiddle about trying to get them in corners (they never go on straight). I use them in pairs at each end of the edge, sticking out, sort of like lots of mini Excaliburs. Once the adhesive is dry, pull them out before grouting. Especially good if the tiles don't have proper square corners (like the ones I spent Tuesday doing.)
