Hello,
Does anyone make Greeks for WWII in 15mm?
Or is there an easy substitute for 1940?
Thanks
Mike

From what I've seen, you could use Italians in helmets for the Infantry. Cold Steel's info leads me to suggest using Command Decision for your rifles and Peter Pig for support weapons and heavier stuff like French 75s. I'm not sure about the other guns. But I'm sure they are available from someone. As to trucks, I'd use Command Decision's Soviet Gaz AAAs with single rear axels. A Ford by any other name…

Hi Mike

If you're looking for a quick fix, use Peter Pig Italians with the painting to differentiate them from Italians:-

Then throw in a few officers in Brit uniforms and you are right to go

Do you have a link or an email address?

I'd skip them to be honest – very large figures (closer to 20mm than 15mm) and the reviews I saw of them were, umm, unflattering at best…. I'd go with the suitably painted Italians option, and Battlefront do a Greek command pack for a little variety and a few suitable officers:

Kai Weaver.
he will be at Historicon the last I heard.
he has a Facebook page but does not talk much on it.
I will see if I can find an email.

There was a range by Falcon miniatures, but they seem to have disappeared. The BF command pack + italian figures is probably the way to go.

Unfortunately many of the guns used by the greeks aren't made by anyone in 15mm: 65mm, 75mm and 105mm howitzers and the 85mm gun. As the 65mm howitzer was the regimental gun for the Infantry and the 75mm and 105mm howitzers were the most common divisional artillery this isn't ideal.

IIRC (my Burning Empires book is packed up), BF suggests the Italian mountain gun for the 65mm.

For that matter, they had a whole list of suggestions for what to use for the different guns (kinda odd mix of stuff, actually)…

Hi

For info on Greek artillery have a look at link and also there may be something to suit in Irregular's Really Useful Guns link

For Greek guns use Italian stuff, they captured plenty of it and lots more was passed on to them by Britain.

My Greeks are a mix of Peter Pig figures, Italians as is, French Motorized infantry with British or Italian helmets and command from WW1 British packs.

Eureka has a request in their 300 club. Not useful if you need them right away, but you wouldn't have to substitute.

QRF do a lot of inter-war guns that would probably work.

I used the Battlefront miniatures to build my Greek Forces and they came out very nice. They make a command pack that gives you some nice standard officer figures as well as ATR figures. I also painted up some civilian platoons (police/civilians) from the battlefront range as well. They are great for Crete.

Hey Guys,
Any pics of your Greeks?

Joe Legan19 Jun 2013 1:02 p.m. PST

My Greeks found here:
Platoonforward.blogspot.com
Look under Feb 2010 Hill 422.
They are a combination of BF russians/italians and Kai's Greek NCOs with 2 Command Decision French Officers.

Cheers

Have you got any evidence that this occurred or did you just make it up because I don't think its true.

A case of beware of Greeks bearing Italian arms eh?! :-)

Especially if it's claimed those Italian arms were a, well, present…. ;-)
