What is people's opinions on the two ranges, whats the pros and cons of each range? And dose any one have any close up photos of them ranges?

I've had a look online at the pictures and I cant decide wich range to go for from those images.

Any help greatly appreciated :)

Baccus are much newer designed figures, and they are well sculpted.

Heroics are a much older design – they are fairly basic by comparison.

But – how good is your detail painting at 6mm, and what's your eyesight like ? I don't have either for WOTR (do have some Irregular) – and in all honesty most of my 6mm look a bit blobby. I do have the H&R Science Fiction Infantry figures and with a simple blue /red paint scheme with a little detail picked out I think they look pretty good.

So really – it's skill as a painter and how much effort you want to put in that's the real decider. If you want the best looking – Baccus, no doubt.

Hi,

As a note I have a load of Baccus WotR I want to get rid of. Some painted and based alot not. About £300.00 GBP worth new. Not looking anywhere near that price though. PM me for more.

@yorkie o1 – yup, that's exactly what my 6mm don't look like !

Nice stuff.

The Heroics/Ros WOTR range was one of the last sculpted by Roger. I think they are some of his best figures. It is clear that he wanted it to be a complete range and released it as such.

Andy has the entire range in a gallery from his website:

Copy and paste. Very nicely painted figures by pack code.

I have painted both and I'd agree that the H&R range is one of his best. They paint quickly and easily and look pretty good too.

Baccus WoR are also among his easiest to paint, even the mounted were quite quick and I managed some nice heraldry of the bardings, the H&R are a bit small to get that aspect easily – it has to be 'suggested'.

I wouldn't kick either range out of bed !!!

Are the Baccus on the larger side of 6mm, and H&R on the smaller side? Can you mix them together?

kodiakblair17 Jun 2013 1:39 p.m. PST

I did Horse Nomads and Sarmations using IRregular and H&R thought they mixed quite well together. In the army not on the same bases though. When I was doing my Celts I got some Bsccus but found them too big. I also did a small Medieval force again using H&R and IRregular, good mix and the H&R were a joy to paint. Slightly flat but good figures

No, although the WoR ranges are not as different in size and style as some ranges, you still couldn't really mix them in the same army without it looking rather obvious.

Veary nice yorkie, veary useful pics as well. thanks for the advice guys think I might get some samples of the H&R before I make the final decision… ive already painted up about 400 10mm wotr and I heat to have one period in three scales :)

W.O.R by Heroics are some of their best figures. Baccus are good but like most of their range suffer from large head syndrome. The range by Heroics is very comprehensive, as are all their period ranges. The don't mix well as Baccus are on the large side with Heroics being true 1/300th. Both have their merits and you make your choice. Baccus are more modern sculpts and some great figures ranges. I was brought up on Heroics and although they are small they look more correctly proportioned then the Baccus figures.

Ben Walton18 Jun 2013 10:51 p.m. PST

Thanks Robert666 thats the idea I was getting from looking at pictures of the heroics. Ive got some of the AWI baccus and I love the level of detail on the sculps but they look a bit hefty for me, although I see why there sculpted that way. Having said that the pictures I've seen of the other ranges look much better proportioned especially the new stuff

Ive ordered a sample of the heroics so I can make a decision, I'll post painted close up pictures when there finished

"Are the Baccus on the larger side of 6mm, and H&R on the smaller side? Can you mix them together?"

Baccus generally tower over H&R stuff and are considerably more bulky too. They don't mix.

Henry Martini19 Jun 2013 7:01 a.m. PST

Tower? The verb seems somehow misplaced in the context of 6mm figures.

YogiBearMinis19 Jun 2013 4:47 p.m. PST

IMHO, the compatibility issues with Irregular and HR mostly involve the group-basing of Irregular figures. You can work around this, either by clipping Irregular figures apart or by basing individual HR figures to match Irregular.
