Maybe not as popular as they once were, but I really enjoy painting these figures.

Heres a few pics of progress so far:-

Cheers,
Lee.

Lovely job Grambo.

I feel exactly the same, in that they may not be the most popular, but they have their own charm and are definitely fun to paint.

Hi Lee,
You've done an excellent job bringing out the character of these little chaps.
Well done
Jonathan

Very nicely done Sir. Essex are one of those companies which have such great ranges but never seem to be "on the scene" anymore.

have you seen their new 1806 prussian cavalry?

they are really quite something.

Excellent! It has been a while, but I enjoyed painting Essex's ACW infantry figures.

Top drawer Lee. Those have a professional look to them.

Nice job, Lee! I've always enjoyed Essex 15mm. I built huge ECW/TYW and SYW armies with Essex. Still have SYW. Thanks for sharing. Hal

Thank you for all the comments. Bit of a nostalgia project this in a way – I would not normally want such rigid poses but it's all part of the charm. I'm trying to get a real old fashioned feel, slightly shiny varnish, clean lines for the painting, nice bit of black undercoat doing it's job etc.

I'm doing some British next …. Highland battalion underway already! I plan to keep this style throughout and use only Essex figures.

Thanks again for the comments,
Lee

Keraunos – I must have a look at them, for some reason the photos on the Essex site never seems to do them justice, they are so much nicer in the metal.

Great job! As long as you like them and enjoy painting them it doesn't matter if they aren't the most popular, they're yours.
