One of our friends is a good old boy from Newfoundland, who is always gripping that I have no Newfies in my minis collection – so I bought a pack of the Victrix 54 mm British Flank companies to paint up as grenadiers of the Newfoundland Fencibles, who wore the same uniform as the regulars

They are very nice figures, but the figure mix is – interesting. There are 16 figures – 2 officers, 2 sergeants, 2 drummers – and 10 squaddies

This is the most over-commanded squad in the army!

I don't do much 54mm except for display pieces or gifts, but it seems to me that this figure mix would result in a lot of un-used drummers

Sounds like they should be packaged as infantry only and have separate command sprues.

That was kind of what I thought!

While assembling both armies in 54mm for my 100' long Battle of Lundy's Lane 1814,I have purchased MANY Victrix British (well fed lads, they are) and a few of their genetically challenged French counterparts sets…Yes,micromanagement abounds here but the pose variations are worth the price.

I think that would be a "perfect" set if.. they tossed in another 8 'ground pounders'
then you'd have a cpl of 12 man (4-3 fig. or 3 base of 4 fig.) 'companies' i.e. Officer, Sergeant, drummer and 9 troopers.

It seems 'someone' would have thought to switch out one of the Officers or Sergeants for standard bearer.
Just a thought there.

What I don't get is why literally all British infantry in 54mm are flank companies. Not one centre company figure to be seen. Airfix, ACTA, AiP, Timpo even, and yes, Victrix – flank companies all.
