I've put the second part of my Codex Eldar review – this time looking at Heavy Support link Enjoy! |

Most of these will never see the table top. But expect to see War Walkers at least one squadron due to the amount of fire they can put out. Also Fire Prisms since it has three different ways it can be used. As for the Wraithknight it is only a way to take GW fanboyz money. At $125 USD for just one and what it costs in points and the fact that it is not all that good will have these sitting on the shelf or in a box. Most 40K are around 1850 points and for Eldar that means you really have to be choosy on just what you put into your army. So yes there will be many GW Fanboyz who will buy one and maybe two Wraithknights only to find that they are only a profit maker for GW and not a game winner for them. Imperial Guard can field 15 Snipers for just 150 points and they should be able to drop it by turn two and with luck on turn one. But GW will have their money already. |

Nice review. The Wraith Knights are already sold out at my FLGS and they're on reorder. I guess people have money to burn and love to make GW rich. Mea Culpa since myself included. I'm glad I make enough money to enrich GW since I need all the cool toys. Whether they win or not on the tabletop doesn't matter. GW is my crack habit. Some of my friends say I don't game enough and am a 'collector.' Yes, I have two Wraith Knights. |

There were several sitting on the shelf of the FGS at their anniversary sale yesterday. They had been out a week plus. Maybe Eldar aren't big in play locally? |

Certainly from what I've seen the Wraithknights are selling well – it's a great model and will make a great centrepiece for any collection. My pride and joy is my Tyranid army, that's got Barbed and Scythed Hierodules and a Harridan – none of which have ever been used in anger on the tabletop! |

"Yes, I have two Wraith Knights." But why, when you can fielded a Squadron of War Walkers for less points and get 24 shots rather than 2. The base cost of a Wraithknight is 240 points and all you get is a big huge model that can fire 2 strength 10 shots. The cost for a Squadron of War Walkers armed with two Scatter is 210 and you will get 24 shots of Laser Lock weapons so you get to reroll any misses. The War Walkers are by far the better Heavy Support section than the Wraithknight. |

But why, when you can fielded a Squadron of War Walkers for less points and get 24 shots rather than 2. True, but I'm not a power gamer or stats junkie and don't build my armies that way. I just like the cool looking models. I already have 3 Warwalkers and 2 Wraithlords so I wanted to add two of the new beasties. I guess our approaches to gaming is different. I like armies with variety of everything, not just models that would give me hundreds of shots like over 100 Guardians. I might win, but how boring. |

Well, I'm not a power gamer either, I think 28mm fanatic has the right idea. The last game of 40K I witnessed was an excercise in meta-gaming (rolling piles of dice, invoking special abilities , and looking up special rules) with little or no attention paid to the (crappily painted) miniatures and (sparse mis-matched) terrain, with zero concern for art, storytelling, or imagination. Sad, because the 40K universe is such a brilliant and rich setting (at least before it became a parody of itself)
That having been said, there are lots of miniatures I can purchase for much more(cough)reasonable prices and enjoy a game with any number of superior rules

Very true while I did get the latest Eldar Codex they were my 2nd 40K army with Harlequins being my first. Then GW dropped Harlequins for many years and nerfed Eldar Guardians 15 years ago. Very shortly after that my armies have been doing nothing but sit in their cases. The way GW is going they could drop Infantry and just make this a game of large models and flyers. More profit for them. I hate the addition of flyers and the large models. Pretty soon this will be the standard for many Eldar armies: 4-6 Wave Serpents because they are now worth their price in points. They can bring a ton of firepower and are hard to kill. Great for Tank Shocking and Ramming after they have move all out on their first turn. Disembark their troops on the second and move off to do some damage. The troops that had disembarked then blast anything that is in front of them. Turns 3-4 in just mopping up what is left. |

What goes into my armies is based more on how cool the models look (to me, since it's subjective) and less on how well they perform on the table-top statistics-wise. For my Eldar, I have no jetbikes (now called Windrider jetbikes) at all because I never liked its 'chopper' design. Since GW never released new sleeker jetbikes more akin to their dark kin counterparts' Reavers I simply won't be taking advantage of their game-winning strategies on the battlefield (like sweeping the enemy off objectives with their twin-linked shuriken catapults in the last turn). I do like the Vypers though and have a squadron of 3. |
