I origianally posted this on Facebook to try and create awareness and discussion but all my friends were too busy watching Bone Idol. Now, this may sound a bit crazy but three seperate news items from a few weeks past I became aware of. In themselves, not much but when combined with this new one I saw
. first we had link Robots that can replicate themselves with 3-D printing added to link A "cloaking device", capable of rendering objects invisible to microwave light, has been produced using a standard 3D printer by scientists in America. and then we had (for 10 minutes bfore the FEDS blocked it) this link link a 3D home printer to produce a firearm, successfully fired a bullet at lethal velocity, and then posted video to YouTube. and finally from Yale we now have link link self awareness This means with 3-D printers we will soon have SELF-REPLICATING INVISIBLE ROBOTS WITH GUNS!!! Meanwhile, what were we doing? Watching X-factor or the Voice. WAKE UP PEOPLE!! The future is now. What would be your prefered scale? How would you organise your units? Basing? Tournament legal? How viable would it be able to print your own or scratchbuild? |

bet the chaps from 'Battlestar Galactica' would be saying, 'nuke the TOASTERS from orbit, it's the only way to be sure!' |

EPMs! Thats a good idea. Would need to have non-computerised bits though. |

If they are truly self aware, they won't be invisible for long; Vanity will ensure that they adopt the newest fad fashion styles and spend most of their time in front of mirrors

Maybe they could paint themselves? And deploy themselves? |

These robots are more like viruses than living organisms, in that they need a host (a 3D printer) to reproduce. So my question is are they alive? If so, can you turn off a self-aware robot or is that murder or mechanocide? Presuming that you can find it to turn it off that is! Deflatermouse – why build an army when you can just let it grow. And why worry about scale when you can have fractal reproduction of robotic sub-units. What rules would you need if your pieces are actually shooting at the other-side's pieces. Rod Robertson. |

So the answer to preventing all this happening is to smash all the 3-D printers? In Terminator when Skypenet is turn on & wipes out 3/4 of humanity, it then: "Following its initial attack, Skynet used its remaining resources to gather a slave labor force from surviving humans. These slaves constructed the first of its automated factories
" Only thing different is now these Invisible Self-replicating Self-Aware Biofueled Stealth Robots with guns will already be available for Skype to use. Aren't humans just so clever? Why build an army? Well part of the question regarding basing is Would you need them? Trying to figure what rules or stats would be needed so I can be Transparent (haha) when shooting/moving/etc. Would like to be seen as being "fair" to my opponent. Would it be a fast attack force or deep strike or
