The Napoleonic boards are legendary for watching train wrecks, but which boards are the politest, in your opinion? Personally, I like Biplanes. Everyone is enthusiastic, discursive (rather than argumentative) and happy to embrace newbies and their questions, no matter how stupid.

What about you?

Most of the 18th Century Boards are similar.
There is something about powdered Whigs that bring out the politeness in a man.
The American Revolution board is a perfect example.
Perhaps it is because the "losers" in that particular unpleasantness recognize that the "winners" were just fighting for the rights of Englishmen anyway, and things worked out for the best. Who is George Washington, but an English country squire, muddling through, to triumph in the end with pluck and courage?
"If the British had won, we would all be speaking English now!" grin

There are no nationalist squabbles to settle there, either. I have never heard of anyone refusing to play either British or Americans in games. Even the Germans or French are not so bad! grin

Great War Ace04 Jun 2013 9:28 a.m. PST

Oh, "Biplanes" for sure….

Texas Jack04 Jun 2013 9:30 a.m. PST

You are certainly right on both counts. Napoleonics is a minefield, but also full of great info. Just donīt call the figures toy soldiers! grin

And yes, Biplanes is a nice place to hang out, as well as naval warfare 1898-19whatever.

ACW isnīt too bad either, I once stated my opinion about Abe Lincoln and came away without so much as a stifle. Amazing!

I second the 15mm Sci-Fi board.I like Sci Fi stuff, but I am not a tech oriented person, and I've made an uninformed comment or 2,and nobody rammmed it down my throat.

The 'Pre-Paint Preparation Board' is a pretty amicable place.

This thread was a mistake. It will only call out the miscreants to mess up the "polite" boards…

Damon.

Naval boards are a bastion of gentlemanly decorum. The VSF guys are also very mellow.

The painting and terrain boards are wonderfully helpful.

The VSF bunch are pretty easy to deal with.

Surprisingly I will put a polite sign up for the Utter Drivel board, Go check it out first .

Altius04 Jun 2013 12:32 p.m. PST

I don't recall any nastiness on the RCW or Interwar boards.

Game design. We have several long threads on theology with no problems, though folks of all beliefs, and none, were actively engaged in the disputation.

The Canadian Wargaming board? Those Canadians dont send troops in until someone invites them too.

Not that I post much on the 18th Century board but it is a nice change when I stop to look something up from the Napoleonic's. I do love Bi-planes as well as all other aircraft but don't go there to often.

based on what I've seen, all the boards are polite, although some more than others.

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER05 Jun 2013 6:20 a.m. PST

The needs More Boobies Board is the most polite! We are to busy looking to argue.

vojvoda05 Jun 2013 6:29 a.m. PST

Star Wars hands down, unless you are debating who is more bad ass (Vader vs Fette) or who is more of a wimp, (Luke or Anikan).

Another vote for 18th Century, and particularly the AWI board. The ethos of "if one must argue, at least be civilised about it" has been well and truly taken on board (see what I did there).
