Hi, All!

Not strictly GASLIGHT, I suppose, but then, isn't GASLIGHT applicable to just about anything?

I had this idea a while ago and have had great fun creating it. Loads more on the blog.

All the Best!

That is actually really impressive.

It reminds me of classic scifi movie modelling where amazing looking ships were built out of bits of model kits and random junk.

Colonel O Truth02 Jun 2013 3:40 a.m. PST

Thanks, Raptor – I've always had a soft spot for those movies and effects too.

Rudi the german02 Jun 2013 4:06 a.m. PST

You have contact lenes!
Haha.

Looks great!

HammerHead02 Jun 2013 4:38 a.m. PST

Love this sort of thing, I spotted the contact lens cases as well

How do you cut the foam smoothly?

Redroom02 Jun 2013 6:24 a.m. PST

very impressive

Dropzonetoe Fezian02 Jun 2013 6:46 a.m. PST

Work of art there!

Colin Hagreen02 Jun 2013 8:01 a.m. PST

I love the space ship, but I think I actually might be able to manage the rubiks cube! Great stuff, inspirational.

jpattern202 Jun 2013 8:44 a.m. PST

Trash-bashing at its best. Very nice work!

MisterFox02 Jun 2013 9:23 a.m. PST

Wow, your Puzzle of the Ancients is brilliant!

morrigan02 Jun 2013 9:28 a.m. PST

Nice! That turned out way better than I expected!

Phil Hall02 Jun 2013 10:48 a.m. PST

OH NO! That is really nice but depending on who the artist and song was on that record it might be the most expensive thing you ever built.

jpattern202 Jun 2013 11:37 a.m. PST

Hah! Phil, that was my first thought, too. "No! Not VINYL!"

tsofian02 Jun 2013 11:50 a.m. PST

It was a copy of a disco album, so no loss!

Darn that is nice!

Excellent use of the record as a scenic base. I might do that myself if I ever start modelling again…

jpattern203 Jun 2013 5:50 a.m. PST

Disco? Carry on, then.

nvdoyle03 Jun 2013 6:02 a.m. PST

Colonel, you are an inspiration to us all.

Wish my kitbashing came out that well, collected stuff together and years on its still a pile of junk. Hope that's not a rare opera recording. I keep throwing out the wrong stuff, think I tossed out an alien boardgame in really god condition! along with a set of christmas lights from ages ago only to be told it was worth about 60 quid d'oh.

billthecat03 Jun 2013 8:35 a.m. PST

Beautiful!

joekano03 Jun 2013 8:57 a.m. PST

That is some nice trash bashing!

Cacique Caribe03 Jun 2013 10:49 a.m. PST

OMG. That looks too cool!!!

Thanks, everyone! It was great fun to build this – just stick stuff on and keep going until it looks right…

The record was "Iolanthe" on the DECCA label – never my thing but now it's out of this world!

Yes – I wear contact lenses. And a holster.

Glad you all like it!

Impressive, but you knew that…

Doug – I know! I know! I'm working on it!

Just saying… ;->=

mashrewba04 Jun 2013 9:37 a.m. PST

What did you use to stick all these different materials together?

Colonel O Truth04 Jun 2013 5:16 p.m. PST

Hi Mashrewba

I used some rather fantastic (and expensive) superglue that was given to me by a friend who works for a well-known special effects company here in Wellington NZ…

"Insta-Cure" by Avetech – amazing stuff!
