Well it took a bit of effort but I managed to find a couple of places with the marines in stock (Model hobbies & Caliver). Northstar is apparently not re-stocking and the rest say stock is hard to come by…..Wayland apparently is getting some more stock in a couple of weeks, but they have been a bit off in their estimation of stock arriving with me in the past.

I think there are now currently no boxes in stock in the UK.

Defiance Games really need to get themselves sorted out and get their stuff to the retailers, decent enough ideas and product but that counts for nothing if the customers cannot actually buy your product.

Same old story, nothing new there.

CmdrKiley31 May 2013 4:32 a.m. PST

I agree. I started assembling their UAMC Marines last week and really like these figures.

Also their non-slotted 25mm textured bases are really nice and very econonimcal.

richarDISNEY31 May 2013 6:48 a.m. PST

I liked them alot, except those helmets.
But nothing a head swap from Pig Iron couldn't fix.

On a side note Wayland also have link the German Panzer Grenadiers marked as available with the Bugs and worms as pre-orders.

ordinarybass31 May 2013 10:31 a.m. PST

Glad you managed to find the Marines. I think they are rather nice looking figures.

However, I wouldn't pre-order anything from DG, unless you want to a very long time, and don't buy the bugs without reading some of the reviews of them first.

Good Luck.

Earl of the North31 May 2013 12:06 p.m. PST

I'm only buying when their in stock with retailers, given DG's history I'm reluctant to order any other way and no chance of a pre-order.

Are there problems with the bugs as well?

Edit: It seems that there was, sad really the bugs and the hardsuits were the ones I've been waiting on.

CzarBLood31 May 2013 12:23 p.m. PST

I find the bugs impossible to stick together

but coversly , the worms are amongst my fave models.

BigNickR31 May 2013 2:09 p.m. PST

I too am waiting patiently for hardsuits to appear

I think this is the point in the thread that we blame the chinese, yes? :}

The Caliver Books order just arrived, a day after I ordered….It's a shame they are so hard to actually get as they are a very good set of figures.

Some lessons have been learnt from the shock troops, in that there are extra left arms and a better choice of weaponry. One stupid decision was the backpack, seems like an extra torso would have been a much better choice giving you 36 marines instead of 24 per box.

Earl of the North01 Jun 2013 6:36 a.m. PST

I've managed to scavenge enough torso's from my bits box to make use of the spare legs, heads, arms & weapons……still seems a foolish choice to skip a torso in favour of a backpack.

Richard Gaulding01 Jun 2013 8:31 a.m. PST

A suggestion I saw, which I like, would have been to make the 3rd pair of legs kneeling. Better than the current extras, which are a bit flat at the ankle. It would have added better variety to the set rather than just another set of basically standing legs.

Though I've found use adding Wargames Factory Persian torsos to the legs -- the scale is just about right, and they make for a neat ad-hoc military gear look for a set of insurgents I'm slowly building.

Porkmann01 Jun 2013 3:39 p.m. PST

I have been interested in these but put off by the plastic. Are they hard styrene or some impossible to glue resin-plastic hybrid?

Earl of the North02 Jun 2013 12:47 a.m. PST

The marines are hard plastic, the panzer grenadier are resin-plastic and are apparently slightly different scale wise…….I believe the bugs are also resin-plastic, no idea about the worms (I expect they are resin-plastic as well).

I didn't get the Mantic Corporation because they are resin-plastic but the ones I got with Project Pandora seem to glue together, to hard plastic and to metal with no problem.

Cergorach02 Jun 2013 7:21 a.m. PST

And your using what kind of glue?

Earl of the North02 Jun 2013 7:39 a.m. PST

Superglue from em4 miniatures link

I used mostly WF bareheads, Mantic corporation bodies and a mix of Mantic arms and em4 arms….the squad has four missile launchers, two flamers, three rifles and one pistol/power glove.

DrNick24702 Jun 2013 12:36 p.m. PST

what do you guys think of the weapons they come with?
I like the SAW but the rest are a bit 'meh'

cheers,

Nick

Earl of the North02 Jun 2013 1:11 p.m. PST

I quite like the carbine and rifle, actually I only dislke the grenade launcher being underslung on the SAW, adds too much bulk in my eyes…..I may try removing it on one to see how easy it is.

Also I'd have given up a carbine or rifle for an anti-tank weapon.

DrNick24703 Jun 2013 3:36 a.m. PST

good point Earl, an anti-tank weapon on the sprue would be much better, appreciate they are giving weapons options, but the fact they are all molded onto the arms is not something i am impressed by. i would rather have a seperate sprue of weapons (or i could use any weaopons i wanted) and more choice in arms, most of them are holding the weapon across the torso

maybe they are planning on selling heavy weapon teams at a later date?

cheers,

Nick

Earl of the North03 Jun 2013 4:24 a.m. PST

Hopefully they are, if they ever get themselves sorted out…I'd settle for an accessory set like the Eisenkern Stormtrooper one, with extra bits, heads, arms and weaponry.

Having seen the conversions, i'd suggest they add US WW2 helmets to the sprue.

Richard Gaulding03 Jun 2013 5:13 p.m. PST

I've never been fond of the SAW, so on all of mine I snip of a standard rifle just in front of the grip, leaving a little of the magazine as an attach point, then snip off the SAW from the magazine forward, trim off the grenade launcher (which isn't that difficult to do) and attach that to the trimmed down rear of the assault rifle. It looks pretty good, and the arms hold this setup much better than the chainsaw version.

Earl of the North06 Jun 2013 12:45 p.m. PST

I went back to the mantic plastic-resin corporation troopers and while they were holding together it took very little effort to take them apart again. This time i'm using bluetac and superglue on the arms/heads and the bond seems to be much stronger.

They are now going to be recon troops, with a head and arms swaps with the defiance marines.

frankietanch09 Jun 2013 5:51 p.m. PST

I have my reservations because of the way the legs looked when they come together, reminds me of those EM4 plastic troopers.

It seems "action figure" like..but then maybe that's me..
the bugs could have been bigger and did someone posted some pics showing the bases looked crappy btw?

Earl of the North10 Jun 2013 1:09 a.m. PST

The are similar to the EM4 plastic troopers in a way, i'm thinking the EM4 troopers might make good flight crew for the Defiance Marines.

The bugs could and probably should have been larger, they look better as 15mm bugs to be honest…..that being said they are scale neutral so they can be small in 28mm.

I believe the crappy bases went with the germans who have some other problems as well.

Earl of the North10 Jun 2013 1:14 a.m. PST

Availability wise Wayland had for several days…..expected soon, arriving tomorrow, 26 expected etc and now its back to 3-9 days (same for the Germans) which means not in stock.

So apparently still no Defiance Games boxes available in the UK.

alien BLOODY HELL surfer01 Jul 2013 4:37 a.m. PST

and people are surprised why? lol

Earl of the North01 Jul 2013 6:56 a.m. PST

Still waiting on Wayland getting some in stock….actually still waiting on anybody in the UK getting some in stock.

Earl of the North02 Jul 2013 1:13 p.m. PST

Well my eternal quest to get enough of the Defiance Marines for my project looks to have finally come to an end, Hatfields have some in stock (well one in stock and the other should be with them by friday). evil grin

Considering the Defiance marines are supposed to be available its been a struggle to actually find them, but anyway now I've just got to get the ones i've got assembled etc.

Earl of the North08 Jul 2013 12:31 a.m. PST

Well Wayland apparently now have the marines and germans in stock for anybody that is interested……a couple of days late for me as i've just ordered a couple of boxes from harfields harfields.com/Index.aspx who also have the marines and germans in stock.

Earl of the North11 Jul 2013 5:12 a.m. PST

My last two boxes have arrived, excellent service from harfields.

Have you had a chance to take a good look at the Germans yet? The ones I got were undersized and full of assorted manufacturing flaws (mainly missing gun barrels). Supposedly, Defiance redid the molds to take care of that.

Earl of the North29 Jul 2013 9:19 a.m. PST

No I've decided against getting any of the Germans, I have been unable to find out if they have been re-sized (to be at least the same size as the marines) or if the problems with the weapons have been fixed.

Defiance Games29 Jul 2013 11:48 a.m. PST

Hi Earl – we actually took the molds out of production while the Germans are revised. They will be ready if all goes well in September. The main thing is that the overall size of the Germans is being increased to better fit their role as heavy infantry. When we originally did them they came out at the same size as the Marines. Now that Bob Naismith has done the Chinese – we felt the Germans needed to be rescaled to match. Along with this we're doing the first heavy weapons set for them as well.

Earl of the North29 Jul 2013 12:04 p.m. PST

Good to hear that they are being revised as the Germans just weren't up to the standards of your Marines due to the problem with the size, faulty weapons etc. I like the look of the Germans, i'll give them another look when they are available.
