Cool! Thanks for writing this. How will yours compare to the Scaife and Jones volumes? |

Mine is going to go into much more detail of individual soldiers, and the movement of individual units and regiments. I'm using a lot more material than Scaife did, such as newspaper articles from the National Tribune and other papers. There has also been new books with more primary information published since 1992, such as Stroud's book on Ector's Brigade, and Boyce's (1st MO) autobiography edited by Winter. There is a lot of information in the regimental histories, and Ludlow's essay, but there's a lot of new stuff too. I'm also going into a LOT more detail of the campaign from Palmetto to Lost Mountain and the railroad, as well as Sherman's reaction. And, I'm hashing out all the clutter about what the signal corps stations actually did and did not send, and when. So, hopefully its the kind of new detal, or focus on old detail, that many people will enjoy. |

Hello Everybody, I just wanted to give an update. I have been signed to a contract with The History Press, the same folks who published my book on Pickett's Mill. The first draft is finished, and I'm in the middle of editing. I would expect the book will be released in June or July. Its not a long book, about 45K words, coming in slightly shorter than Pickett's Mill. One of the more exciting parts of my research has been pouring through the works of Atlanta historian Wilbur Kurtz. Looking at his research notebooks and original maps and photographs at the Atlanta History Center is a real treat. The Facebook page above has a lot of information on what will be in the book, and the latest information. Go take a look. I will be more than happy to answer any questions here too. |

And the book is out early! The History Press had set the release date for June 24th, but I received my pre-order from them yesterday. So did Amazon, apparently. The book is now live and available for sale! It says 1 or 2 days to process, but the Kindle version is live too. I hope you enjoy it! link |
