Brilliant, Simon! I think they look pretty damned perfect in extreme close up. But I'd be prepared take them off your hands if it would save your blushes
;-) Cheers, Aaron |

It's great to have separate commanders Simon. Just done half my Polemarch machimoi, having a break with some other bits and pieces before I tackle the rest. Those straps on the greaves took quite awhile. I did like that scorpion standard. Nothing is certain of course but we took Phoxidas' mercenaries to be pikemen. Under Hail Caesar I doubt thureophoroi would have trashed the Arabs – I have in mind upgrading my thureophoroi to be medium infantry, 'inferior' hoplites. Looking forward to hearing about the game. I think yer pays yer money and takes yer choice, Garry. ;-) I don't think that they are referred to as part of the phalanx, and they are deployed on the flank of the phalanx where one might reasonably expect to see thureophoroi. And they are grouped with the Thracians and Galatians, who were thureophoroi. Our Arabs are essentially also thureophoroi, just rather bad ones, and I don't rate their chances against the mercenaries under my rules. Which is a pity as the figures Craig has made are quite splendid! The way the battle is structured should give them a few hours on the table, though. Cheers, Simon |

This lovely bit of painting is going to proxy as Echecrates the Thessalian, on Sunday. link Cheers, Simon |

Simon, those look great. My figures always look perfect until I take a photo and can see them properly, then all the flaws show up to my old eyes. I'm sure these will look fantastic on a table. And that packed phalanx looks amazing. I much prefer seeing cramed figures shoulder to shoulder rather than spaced out on a nice pretty scenic base. Colin |

Very nice command groups! |
Mithridates | 31 May 2013 2:44 p.m. PST |
Good looking commands – effete option for Ptolemey I think! Must paint up some foot options, mine are all cavalry at this stage. |
BigRedBat | 01 Jun 2013 1:18 a.m. PST |
Thanks chaps- my mind says effete but my heart says dashing cavalry commander! :-) Maybe I'll use dashing cavalry commander until his wing is routed, and effete youth afterwards
Cheers, Simon |
