So I got my quinjet in the mail today and gave it a good couple coats with gray mini primer. The coats seemed to cover the surface ok but there are little granules all over the surface that come off with a little abrasion. What did I do wrong and how should I fix it?

Did you use Krylon Fusion?

I used Armory gray primer.

If weather is to hot spray can dry slightly before covering the surface!

John Treadaway had this issue recently with his infantry giving him a very grainy surface. I've also had it when can pressure had dropped and was just peppering the surface with dry globs of paint!

A gentle rub down on the flat surfaces with a very fine grit glass paper should get most of the dust off without damaging it. But try with a wrough dry rag first as this worked on my figures but not my buildings!

Hope you can fix it but its a bit of a issue when it happens as its the detail that really suffers I'm afraid!

Cheers Matt

I had that issue with both gray and black Armory primer and that is why I stopped using it.

I have two batches of Somalis that are much more 'textured' than the rest of their 'verse.

As I mentioned back on page 1 of this thread (my May 26, 2013 post) I am willing to part with a few beauties:

Love that HAWK repaint.

That Raven looks like a good possibility as well.

Matt, email sent.

I have one of those Hawks! 37 years old, hell, that's older than a lot of people here! I found the Eagle kit going for $18 USD USD, a lot cheaper than most places that have them.

Get a new toothbrush with hard bristles, give it a good scrub. A lot of paint will also come off mind you.

Found that Quinjet on e-bay for $15.50 USD. A great bargain indeed as I didn't find anything near that good. The closest price was around &20 and the most expensive at a whopping $89.99 USD and no, it wasn't the Lego version. Pricing ran the gamut with most claiming how rare it is. I'm thinking this will go to the Japanese as it makes a perfect delivery vehicle for landmates and hardsuits.

Any other primer reccommendations? Krylon Fusion doesn't seem to be available here.

Dunno what's in your neck of the woods.

By the way, here's a favorite long-lost image I finally found again today:
