Thanks to Irrational Designs and Studio Bergstrom I have the start of my Federation Commander fleets. My painting was inspired by work I had seen posted on the Star Ranger Forum by Ogre.

I present to you the USS Renown.

In opposition we have the Klingon cruisers IKV Taj (Dagger), the IKV Ghargh (Serpent), and the IKV Veqlargh (Demon).

We got our first game in using the new miniatures, running a classic Kobayashi Maru scenario.

So much better looking than anything from ADB or Mongoose – and not copycat enough to infringe the IP either. Pure win/win.

I've got a mess of these on my work bench and they're AMAZING ships. Both in design and casting quality. You've done a great job on those Louie!

Ogre's painting style is fantastic. I can see how that would inspire you. It's inspired me as well.

Very nice – what rules will you use? You mentioned Federation Commander – or is that just a generic Starfleetish reference?

They're not official you know. You will never be able to participate in tournaments. You make your mother cry.

*lol*

Really beautiful, they should get advantages for pure awesome.

Now, I must find the work of this OGRE of which you speak. To the SCN pole!

Thank you for the kind replies. It is greatly appreciated.

We used the Federation Commander game system from Amarillo Design Bureau. I have a good friend who brought the game to my attention, and I am glad he did. It provides an excellent Tactical/Skirmish starship game.

We used the miniatures as proxies for standard Fed commander designs. The Renown was a Fed Heavy cruiser, the Klingon ships were two D6 and one D7.

I don't worry much about tournaments. I am fortunate to have an excellent gamming club to run games with.

We hope to run more people through the "No Win" scenario and create some kind of Leader/performance board of the results.

We will see.
