Anyone know of a good brush on match for Tamiya spray Lacquer AS-14 USAF Olive drab? Looking for something to paint by hand in areas where the spray missed.

Thanks,

Why not just spray a bit into a jar, let the propellant boil off and use that ?

If you go that route, read up a bit on decanting online as it can be a bit tricky. Basically don't put a lid on the jar if it is still boiling.

I imagine they sell bottled paints to match the spray cans.

Not 100% sure about that, but strongly suspect so.

Spraying in a jar will work, assuming you can get it, and keep it in the jar.

I'd recommend wearing a respirator and goggles, due to the blowback out of it, which will probably be shooting towards your face.

Thanks but Tamiya does not make a brush on version of this colour in their Acrylic range that I can find. I have tried spraying it into a small jar, but it tends to paint on very thin (need 2 or 3 coats) and separates very quickly so it is far from and idea solution.

I imagine they sell bottled paints to match the spray cans.

Even if they are allegedly the same color, the sprays are almost always different from the bottle paints. Or at least the several I've tried have been…

Damon.

Which is really funny when Testors can get it right between RATTLECANS and bottle paint.

I have discovered Humbrol enamel 86 is a close match to Tamiya AS-14 spray paint. Spraying the AS-14 into a jar then using a brush or an airbrush works but wastes a lot of paint.

You could spray it into a wad of cotton (which should become soggy with paint.) You'd have to use it fast before it dries out, though….
