1. Does anyone know if Warmodelling's Mid-Republican Romans are comparable to Corvus Belli Carthaginians? I got the sense that they are somewhat larger but not sure if they are too large (comparison shots on TMP appear to be dead links).

If anyone can provide fresh comparison shots that would be super.

2. I've also read that squeezing 4 Warmodelling Roman spears on a 40mm x 15mm base is tough to impossible. Can anyone confirm? Would like to base them in a DBA-compatible manner.

Thanks.

They're enormous…..20mm+ rather than 15/18

Comparison of Warmodelling vs Feudal Casting velites; Feudal are about the same size as CB. I do like the Warmodelling kneeling triarii, these do fit 4 to a 40x15 base, but standing troops I can't comment on. The Samnite allies are nice but large.

Also to compare, Warmodelling druids vs Chariot (also CB size:

Hope that helps

I have seen a FoG Mid Republcan Roman army using Warmodeling figures. The heavy infantry were four to a 40x15 base. I would imagination the standing figures fit better than the attacking figures on the base.

Thanks phil and Delbruck, looks like they will match fine enough.

They're a whole head taller in those photos.

True, but in separate FoG battlegroups they don't look out of place near each other on the tabletop. Perhaps the biggest other difference of warmodelling MRRs to most others (Chariot, Essex, Freikorps etc) is the shields on the triarii/hastati/principes which are much rounder & wider on Warmodelling – a bit like those on the famously large Xyston figures. But again if kept to separate BGs it doesnt really show on table.

yeah, they don't look grotesquely out of proportion. I plan to mix in some of Xyston's command and cavalry with the Warmodelling figures anyway. The Corvus Belli's will be in opposing units, so they will hold their own just fine, I think.

Reviving this thread because I'm just about to leap into punic wars in this scale – are Warmodelling and Xyston compatible?
WM look thinner and slighter on the photos – but are they similar heights?

NavyVet04 Jul 2013 6:09 p.m. PST

Xyston goes with very little when it comes to their Republican Roman line.
They are quite large for 15mm and are closer to 18mm. Warmodeling tends to be about mid sized in the scale. I would use Essex or Outpost Wargaming Republican lines.
