Hi all, I've posted a report on a scenario from the Battlegroup Overlord book, Breville, that we played yesterday at the Devon Wargames Group.
devonwargames.blogspot.co.uk I've now played the Normandy rules and the Kursk set and have posted my impressions of the rule set. With some reservations, I like them and am planning to put together a Pegasus Bridge Scenario at next months meeting. I have posted my thoughts on the rules on my blog jjwargames.blogspot.co.uk Jonathan |

Jonathan: Good AAR and pictures. Good honest overview ("assessment") of the rules that laid out how much experience that you had using them. I just ordered a copy of BGK and read many overviews and reviews, but you covered many points that were of interest to me (often omitted or "glanced over" in other reviews). We were looking for a fun, fast-playing alternative to FOW tournaments at local group conventions (and monthly get-togethers). You note that BGO did not get the nod for being a simulation, but you describe how you thought BGO was more "simulation" than FOW and BA. I liked that you also gave specific examples that help the reader understand why you came to the conclusion that you did (and steps that you will take to remedy the situation--which appear relatively easy). I wish more people would write overviews like yours. Good job. |
