I've just discovered that Kathies Comics is no more……

What a cryin' shame. Slipped quietly away without a big fuss I dont know when…..

Many here will recognise and remember the fantastic contribution KC made to Spearhead, with their annual Megagames, and in consequence the excellent rule extensions they incorporated into their web site.

If you can still read this, KC, thanks for putting the spadework in with SH. I hope your efforts with rule mods etc have not been lost to the world with the demise of your website.

The store closed but I think Dom still runs games. You could start looking on the yahoo group

Hi

Dom and his family have not been involved with Kathies Comics for some years. He has been putting on the Megagame each year (except for 1 year) – this year's was Bulge 1944 and next year is 1942 (Desert, Eastern Front and maybe the Pacific too!). The last few Megagames have been held in Falmouth each January.

The game rules have evolved substantially from the old Spearhead to the stage where they are now completely different – putting multiple divisions on the table under Spearhead is impractical. The new rules are called Combat Command and work quite well (they evolve each year based on player experiences and game results).

He has a blog up on:

megagame-holidays.blogspot.ae

If you enjoy Spearhead or Command Decision and want to spend 6 days pushing huge amounts of 1/300 miniatures around, I highly recommend the experience

I always loved to read those megagames articles in Wargames Illustrated. Just the sheer number of units and players involved seemed cool and the articles often highlighted some of the humor too.
