Wasn't sure where to post this as the Eureka Pond Wars figures don't fall under any of the other categories outside fantasy. Over the past couple of months when I've been looking up something on the Eureka Miniatures site, I can't help being drawn to how cool the Pond Wars figures are. Ronin rabbits? Turtle tanks? Awesome!!! Definitely outside the norm as far as minis goes.

Does any game this "genre"? Or know someone who does?

Evidently people do, as I sold out of most of the rabbit samurai codes at Carronade this weekend.

Wow! That's pretty neat. I was looking at the rabbits and am sorely tempted to order a pack from Rob at Eureka USA and see where it goes. Just not sure what terrain design would entail.

Usually my google-fu is weak, but I found one chap documenting his pond making for just such a game here: link

That's a great link.

I've thought about buying some figs for a HOTT army but I've got too much to paint as it is.

Buck Surdu and I have run a number of games at various HMGS East cons pitting his North American Frogs against my South American Frogs, using GASLIGHT rules.

Oh man… thanks for sharing those pics and links Chris! I think I could have found my next project. Or as my wife calls it "my next distraction to keep me from finishing any of my ongoing projects". :)

I came across a great link on The Lead Adventure Forum to inspire those wanting to create a pond setting: link

Pretty astute wife you've got there.

Were I building terrain for an all aquatic races game, I would make the board look like the pond sans water, and put dry land, complete with fringes of heavier water's edge vegetation and a different color pallet, at the tops of the hills.

@79thPA.. yeah a real gem she is. ;)

@GypsyComet: I'd definitely have to have lots of ground area for the bunnies to fight on as well.

I just put in an order for a bunch of frogs from Eureka USA. I'm glad I saw your post, it's inspiring! Some really nice painting and pics here!

I miss old GW Slann too….

What rules are you guys using? I'm going to use my favorite, Alien Dungeon's 'Fanticide':)

Uh-oh… I smell a Yahoo Group comin'. ;)

I do, but my frogs, turtles and lizards are allied against small rodents.

I use Pigwars for rules.

Bravo Six13 May 2013 4:57 a.m. PST

Does no one use the Rabbits? I mean they ARE listed as Pond War figures. Right?

Virtualscratchbuilder, are the rodents the Eureka Mice Wars ones?

B6,

No, not at the moment. A mixture of GW Skaven, Splintered Light rodents and whatever else I can find that fits the genre.

Here's some of my Frog army BTW.

@VSB: those pics are great! WOW!

@Chris: did you recall what issue number that was?

Man, I'm finding this genre harder to resist!

It is no joke that these things sell.

In an email correspondence with Nic, I questioned the popularity of the various whimsical lines he does over more serious subject matter (won't go into specifics). He made it quite clear that teddy bears and samurai frogs are some of his top sellers.

Go figure.

Weird eh? But certainly in a good way.

Ganesha Games "Song of a Splintered land" is well suited for skirmish games using these miniatures. Though that is a skirmish game.

Zephyr108 Jun 2018 2:59 p.m. PST

Are there actual "Pond Wars" rules?

Pinworthy6008 Jul 2018 7:08 a.m. PST

There was a game in the Space Gamer called "Pond War". The rules were by Allen Varney.
