A couple of new Varangian units I did for a mate who is building a Byzantine force. He supplied the chunky bases so that's a matter of preference. He asked for one white and one purpled themed unit. So this is what he gets. Lovely Crusader figs are great to paint. LBM and Gripping Beast transfers make them pop.

Cheers,
Mick

like those a lot Mick,

The idea behind fat bases stops people picking figs, so they use the base as impetus bases are heavy if loaded with figs.

I like these a lot, I need to get on with a Byzo saga army.

I always like the look of Byzantines and these have come up very well.

Very nice indeed. Reminds me that my old Hincliffe Varangians need some loving care – those larger raven transfers may be just what they need. Thanks for posting.

Lovely!!!

Thanks for the comments, Gents. A little tip is to plan what shield design you want then match up the colour scheme.

would be nice to have a seminar on how to add proper color schemes for varangians-very nice work !
