After a very long time of… well not doing so…, we played a small unit action involving USMC Recon vs. Russians in a hypothetical WW III setting:

Everything is 28mm, minis are from Eureka, DDD, Red Star and Mongrel. Tanks are from Imprint.

Enjoy,

Burkhard

Very Cool. Where did you get the buildings and terrain from?

Bravo Two Zero10 May 2013 9:53 a.m. PST

and I trust you were using Face of Modern Battle???

The figures and the terrian board are excellent. Thank you for sharing the report.

What rule system did you use to play out the game?

Thank you guys!

Bravo Two Zero is right… The Face of Modern Battle were the rules used.

The Warehouse is scratchbuild from foamcore. The containers are from Eslo (bought them ages ago, so I am not sure if they still sell them). The rest is all scratchbuild, too.

Fantastic gameplay report! Great table!

At the end you call the tanks t70's at the beginning they are t90's… which are they? and Where did you get them?

Bravo Two Zero10 May 2013 10:27 a.m. PST

as for Face of Battle I have yet to get the use of tanks to be balanced. a card for every crew man slows it down and makes one tank a beast to control. no wthis works well with say one tank to one player.

Give the Tank one card seems kind of balanced but you lose the situation where the gunner has a target and is ready to fire but loader is slow on the draw.

In your Kursk games I would like to know how you balanced this.

In this spectacular report you had the best numbers for FoB. We use 4 to 5 players and a squad each. We make Heavy weapons as on call or we make it variable what actions they take.

Very nice scenery and battle report.

Thanks again, guys!

@BigNick: They are T90's. Must have made that mistake due to them being based on the T70. Need to go back to,the report tomorrow and update that info.

@Bravo Two Zero: Believe it or not during our Kursk games we were actually playing with cards for every crew member. The person I am playing those with and I have a lo of experience with the rules, so we were able to do it pretty fast.
Right now we have started experimenting with one to three cards per unit / crew. I see the same problem regarding the order in which the crew act. Therefore we will roll a die wen a crew card comes up. On an odd result it is the loader first, on an even result the gunner. We shall only experiment with that in our next game though.
