Our club ran a Mech Attack scenario at Little Wars, and we scaled it up to 28mm to create a pretty awesome visual spectacle. You can read the batrep here: link

And here is probably the coolest photo to come out of one of our games in a long time. If this doesn't make you want to read the whole batrep, you obviously don't like giant robots. :)

And here are a couple more:

I love your city layout.

Why thanks! It's all scratchbuilt…there are some great tutorials available to make those milk crate high rises.

Glad you liked the buildings.

-We built them of smaller crates of the type used for CDs and DVD storage.
-The white ones are unpainted. The rest were painted with various sprays, especially KRYLON camo sprays with "fusion" (sticks to plastic).
-Some were lightly drybrushed.
-Roofs are made of pieces of roofing tile.
-The windows are pieces of cardboard painted with streaks of blues, purples and whites.
-They they all got a few coats of spray matte varnish.

Some were made a bit differently, but that's most of it. The roads are also cutup roofing tiles.

Clear acetate would work well for windows, too. Attach it to the inside of the walls and paint it on the inside. Gives you the color, but with a reflective glass-like surface facing out.
