The new Ground Zero Games 15mm Division Légère made an appearance at Salute this year. As the vehicles and troops are either out or are to be out within days, here's the Big Detachent Sheet PDF link – and the Big Troop Sheet PDF link – (for those who like to play smaller games) available, with some background, on the Slammers site. link Troops are, effectively, half sized units commanded by a Sergeant rather than an Lt.

Mr T. What is the smallest practical force you can field in HS and still get the feel of the game with? Michael.

A troop works well. A troop is half of a detachment. The size of a detachment varies because of thhe quality levels of the units: an Elite Detachment is 8 TUs, Veteran's 10, Trained 15 and Untrained 30. A single detachent is led by an Lt, usually, two are led by a Captain, three by a Major. With troops, that works out to: an Elite Detachment is 4 TUs, Veteran's 5, Trained 8 and Untrained 15. A single troop is led by a Sergeant. A TU is a single vehicle or a stand of infantry. Slight variations to this is that a towed weapon (say an anti-tank gun) is a TU including it's towing vehicle. For most units you can just pick a half sized troop from the detachment sheets provided, but – in the case of the Division and the Slammers – I've made specific troop sheets up, specifically so that the publisher Pireme can make up a boxed set with the rules and a troop of Slammers and a Troop of Division Legere so that people can buy it and just start playing immediately. Soooo – the really short answer Michael (unlike the one I've just given) is four to five vehicles and stands or infantry usually 4 infantry per base) per side is enough to play a good game of an hour or so to get a handle of how the rules work. A detachment per side (double that) will get a game that lasts an hour and a half to two hours (or less if you are experienced). I usually play a single or double detachment per side, two player game and they last me a couple of hours plus of a club night. Less than that is quicker but just as much fun – just fewer decisions with leadership. And remember, this is irrespective of scale: 6mm, 15mm or 28mm all work the same. John T |

I'm moderately sure that the infantry and all vehicles are available now and the tank destroyer is imminent (we had master casts to paint for the show game). John T |

They weren't on general release at Salute. Part of what Jon was referring to in the "Post Salute Update" where he talks of putting everything upon the store once he has cleared the mail order backlog
shouldn't be too long now. |
