No huge surprise on three… B Wing, TIE Bomber, and Lambda Shuttle… And also the Mouldy Crow!

Can't wait for photos!

Meh. All a bit on the heavy end of the spectrum, but pretty much what I'd expected (didn't see the Moldy Crow coming, but did reckon it would be something in that class – I was thinking possibly the Ghtroc freighter.)

To be honest I was hoping for a couple more dogfighters rather than more big stuff though; a Z-95 and an EU TIE type or an R-41 would've been my preference. C'est la vie, though.

Phew! I thought for sure we'd get a Bespin Clown… er a Cloud Car.

Well the models are well up to the standard they've set at least – those are pretty…. ;-)

ComradeCommissar04 May 2013 12:25 p.m. PST

What's a Mouldy Crow?

BigNickR04 May 2013 12:47 p.m. PST

"What's a Mouldy Crow?"

Seconded

"The Google is not strong in this one."

Kyle Katarn's ship:

Well, I was spot on with three of 'em… but the last one… huh?

But hey, they've got a license that clearly covers some PC game material, so maybe we are looking at the TIE Defender and even the TIE Phantom in the future!

Gotta get 'em all, now.

ComradeCommissar04 May 2013 3:57 p.m. PST

Who's Kyle Kataran? grin

I figured it was expanded universe. I'm not a big fan of most EU stuff and haven't really kept up with it since the 1990's. I guess they had to go the EU route eventually, though.

Mako1104 May 2013 4:08 p.m. PST

I'm guessing they held back the Tie Defender to have a powerful, much coveted fighter to release, in the next wave.

CorSecEng04 May 2013 5:37 p.m. PST

Kyle Kataran is from the video games. Daddy gets killed and he has to fight some baddies. Darth Malek I think…. He was basically a spy/special operator for the rebellion who had jedi powers and eventually trained them up and went to the Academy when Luke started it on Yavin. He doesn't do much outside the games.

He was in Dark forces I and II, Jedi Knight, and made an appearance in Jedi Academy. There was a series of comic books as well. I have some hard cover book that was put together with the dark forces story line.

I'm excited to see all of them (and I never played the video games….)

I'm going to have to stock up on extra TIE Bombers to convert into Boarding Craft for get the MC-GFN Droid off the freighter convoy scenarios!

Here is a bunch of info about the ships, including the cards and all…

Super excited by all four ships.

Moldy Crow is a great nod to the old LucasArts games!

I am happy to see the B Wing gets Barrel Roll, that's pretty cool!

eptingmike04 May 2013 8:01 p.m. PST

Pretty stoked on the Bomber and B-Wing. The shuttle looks cool but I am a little cold on the last ship. Still probably get all four cuz they got me hook, line, and sinker.

AndrewGPaul05 May 2013 3:30 a.m. PST

To be honest I was hoping for a couple more dogfighters rather than more big stuff though; a Z-95 and an EU TIE type or an R-41 would've been my preference. C'est la vie, though.

Other than the crappy-looking one from a game I never played, the other three were probably a shoe-in; they were the only ones outstanding from the small craft in the original trilogy. I'm sure wave 4 will come back and mine the EU. I'm holding out hope for an assault gunboat and a Headhunter rather than an E-Wing.

thosmoss05 May 2013 6:53 a.m. PST

My guess: if the number of Mouldy Crow sales equals enough to justify the print run, then the whole EU fleet list will be thrown open. Mouldy Crow and Slave I represent how many people out there have to get 'em all.

Other potential excitement -- the part of the extensive modifications of the Moldy Crow is the addition of a Blaster Turret! Odds are now good of seeing an upgrade card that will be useful on the Y-WIng too ^,^

Ghostrunner06 May 2013 7:11 a.m. PST

B-Wing:

No surprise. I had guessed the stats, and was spot on except I had the hull and shields reversed. Was also close on the upgrade bar (including the BFG upgrade), except I had given it an extra proton and (obviously) had not guessed about a completely new sensor dish upgrade.

TIE Bomber:

Another one everyone expected. More hull than I would have expected, but I like the upgrade bar – you can load it to the gills, but you better protect it until it gets its ordnance unloaded.

Shuttle:

I'm not a big fan of the trend to use these as super-starfighters or gunboats. Not happy they gave it a 3 firepower rating and a BFG upgrade, but if the maneuver dial is gimpy enough, I can live with it. It's am iconic ship, so we were probably guaranteed it would get made eventually.

Crow:

Not thrilled about the Crow, but it might have some potential in games. They didn't get carried away with the stats (1 attack?), so with the turret option it becomes a stripped down Y-Wing.

And poking more at Wookieepedia, the Crow will be a versatile ship for scenario use -- the basic pony version is a light freighter, and other variations as a boarding craft. Sweet!

So any word as to when they'll be released?

Doug

Nope.
Wave 1: restock in May.
Wave 2: restock in 3rd quarter.
Wave 3: official radio silence.

> So any word as to when they'll be released?

I thought I saw on the FFG site that the new wave was slated for a Q3 release.

My guess? The exact same weekend that "Sails of Glory" and "Star Trek: Attack Wing" come out.

richarDISNEY06 May 2013 9:12 a.m. PST

Wave 3 is a Q3 2013 release.
Me? I love to see the Moldy Crow.
That opens up a lot of the EU ships!

Well, I was spot on with three of 'em… but the last one…

EVERYONE was spot on with those 3.
