Foe those of you who have used Shapeways models before, are there any primers or paints that you are aware of that should be avoided when working on their models. I don't want the models eaten by some paint if I can avoid it. |

I haven't had any bad experiences with primers or paints, but I have heard the sunlight (UV rays) are bad for FUD, so keep them in the dark until they are painted, especially if you have painting timelines like I do

All common hobby paints will work with WSF material. HOWEVER, FUD and FD have poor adhesion and although the paint goes on well it can easily be scratched off inadvertently. |

FUD needs to be ultra clean – several washes in hot water and detergent to get off the oil/wax used for support and cleaning the model from shapeways. I find a thin coat of varnish first helps considerably. |
