Apparently there was an undeclared 'war' over the disputed territory back in 1962. It was overshadowed by the CMC and is relatively unknown.

Seems to me it's a no brainer for them to cut off all trade with China, until they remove their troops, and apologize.

Since the Chinese deny the troops are there I see no problem with India shelling them into pulp.

Yep, it probably would make for an excellent artillery barrage, or aircraft bombing test range.

Ravi Rikhye over at orbat.com has been posting about this incident in detail; the latest comment boils down to:

In case you're wondering what's happening about the Chinese intrusion 19-km into Indian territory, the news you've been hearing is all wrong. There is no intrusion. There is no crisis. Nothing to see here, move on.

But what about the headlines and the photographs of Chinese troops and so on? Not a problem. They're not in Indian territory. Not in India's territory, you ask? Then what the heck is going on?

Very simple. India has capitulated without a shot. The foreign ministry has said there is no intrusion. The army has been told that it is not to provoke the Chinese under any circumstances. See? No crisis, no intrusion.

Also, India has no road to the area.

The Chinese are following the Sassanian philosophy of claiming all territory of previous dynasties. They look unlikely to be stopped by peaceful means.
See their claims in the South China seas, Tibet, Korea! etc.
They may even seek revenge for the Sino-Japanese war.
Watch out if you live in one of these areas!
