I think this might be useful for an Imperial outpost to be besieged by the Pathans: link Alan |

Nice fort. Where do I get one?. |

The Afghan hill fort looks like a 'one-off' Ian Weekley model from the 1980s. In 15mm, there's the soon to be released Afghan hill fort from Blue Moon, just previewed. |

I have been making something very much like this (except no arched doorway, alas) out of Castillos building block toys. Made in Spain, designed for European-style castle building, but very well adapted to anyplace a generally ancient/medieval look is necessary. Where or by whom Castillos are sold these days is unknown to me, I bought my sets from various shops or importers years ago, but maybe someone who knows will step forward. |

Thats Ian weekly's fort. He also made another which I have a copy of. Weekly's fort has the true flavor of the area while the F&T is not for the NW Frontier. |

Actually, some of the forts built by the British were in fact very like the one I linked to: link link link |

Blue Moon fort?
OK, totally getting one of those in addition to the Battlefront Desert Fort. |

Actually, some of the forts built by the British were in fact very like the one I linked to: How you can see any similarity between the model you linked to and those photos of a fort in the distance beats me. If you zoom in on the map here: link you'll see that Fort Lockhart is not even rectangular. |

Some of the forts built by the British, as opposed to tribal forts which were taken over, did tend to be rather low in profile. Of course, one of the advantages of cardstock is that the fort can be built in any shape you wish. In my opinion, the Blue Moon fort (very nice as it is) is far too grand for The Grim, looking more like something out of the Crusades. Similarly, I think the Ian Weekly fort you pictured is too formal in design for a tribal fort. |

"The Grim" was a slang term used by the British for the North-West Frontier area. |

Alan, with all due respect I think you should buy the FandT model and be happy

The eastern architecture forts are clearly tribal. Ghazni link on a smaller scale, not at all like the forts that HM forces built and used, which were far more workmanlike and far less grandiose, even when built to impress like Jamrud link |

I'd be happy with the F&T fort. For our Afghans I'm happy with a Borders Peel style tower. |

That OG fort would however be ideal for campaigns on the plains of India right up to the Mutiny. |

Though not quite perfectly appropriate, that new Old Glory fort could also stand in for the Bala Hissar of Kabul, or at least a section of it needed for a game, rather nicely. It's certainly the closest thing I've ever seen meant to come off a mass-production line. I wish they'd up-scale it to 28mm
