Has anyone tried this before?
I have used the spray but don't use it anymore.Although I was content with the result I also had some trouble with it.
So,I was wondering.Do you get the same result using a brush-method(seems alot safer)

I use the brush on all the time, I never liked the spray. Brush on is just as tough and cleaner.

I used the brush method on these chaps.
2 layers Vallejo matt varnish but it's not enough matt for me.

As mentioned, the Army painter matt varnish gave some good results but I don't want to spray no more.
I had a bad experience with it so…
If the bottle gives me the same result as the spray I'll definetly will buy some.
If anyone has experience with this product, please let me know.

With kind regards

Kurt

I was surprised to find the quick shades in 18ml bottles,
I`ll give to varnish a try

The varnish is brilliant, a total matt finish.

Yes, the best (really) matt varnish on the market and we have tried them all here at MMPS.

So Army painter varnish in a bottle will be my holy grail then.
Thank you for the reply gents.

@Fons,are you back in business with your Paintservice?
I ordered a battalion Prussians from you 2 years ago, picked them up at Crisis, don't know if you remember.

My alternative brushon is Winsor & Newton Galeria artists acrylic matt varnish. Always needs a blooming good shake but a good flat matt with no residue & in 50ml bottles from art shops

Phil – that is interesting, as the bottle says shake mildly (which is what I have been doing) – is a good shake better? Any downsides?

Thanks

If it stands for any length of time the matting agent settles in the bottle somewhat; without a good shake to mix together, the top clear layer doesnt give a matt finish!! Downside – a few bubbles after heavy shaking that need to be brushed out if they get onto the figure.

Can you clean brushes out in water?

Marc the plastics fan25 Apr 2013 5:04 a.m. PST

Only if you don't let it dry grin

But yes, acrylic varnishes should be water soluble (Tamiya uses alcohol I believe)

From the smell of the tamiya stuff i would guess at some alcohol in the mix. If you clean brushes as soon as you have finished they still seem to clean up OK in water though.
