SALUTE 2013 Walkthrough

For those of you who were unable to attend this year, here is a complete walkthrough of SALUTE – the annual South London Warlords (UK) event. This is the largest show on the UK's wargaming calendar. The photos show the demo and participation games that were staged throughout the one-day event on 20th April at the prestigious EXCEL Centre in London's Docklands. To give you a more complete walkthrough experience, I've interspersed photos of the trade stands among the demo & participation games.

Here's the link to a slideshow of the photos:

Thanks Joe, I knew you were there altough I haven't seen you anywhere. But there are more people that I know of that I haven't run accross all day.

Cheers Joe, your photos are fantastic. Very jealous for all who attended, looks like it was an amazing day.

Sorry to have missed saying hello to you Joe – but your photos are an invaluable reminder, as always, of all the things I somehow missed!

Joe – very nice shots (as ever). Can I borrow some of the Slammers ones to add to the Gallery (with a credit) on the Slammers site?

Running a game all day, this is the only way I can see the show! If you could add a button to the slide show so that I can click it to go to some of the trade stands you've featured so that I can go back in time and make a purchase, that'd be just great…!

Joe

A huge thank you again for posting this – I was concious this year of just how much I missed of the show, so your photo-tour is invaluable!

Cheers

Nice to see – photo 96 is it…

Now we need an index grin

Thanks for all that effort though – much appreciated

Schogun22 Apr 2013 5:54 a.m. PST

Great shots! Thanks.

How do you get such good depth of field?

Yesthatphil22 Apr 2013 6:19 a.m. PST

Why do I already think I know which picture no. 96 is, Marc grin?

Great resource (though I only had time to skim) … great pics of the Lance & Longbow/Simon Chick Cravant game – and some nice tee shirts in there, too

Ahh – this is the one we've been waiting for. I don't believe Salute is real until Joe's walk-thru appears.

I haven't looked at them yet but I hope he got one of me after missing me (and the hat I wore specially for his photo) last year grin

I'm all excited now, looking forward to heading over to enjoy the pics.

Thanks Joe for this regular superb effort.

Great walk-through. I've almost abandoned taking my own photos at the show as you always do such a good job. Do you mind if I use the ones of our Dux Bellorum game to put on my blog?

cheers
Steve

Some amazing photographs, of some amazing games

and some photographs of static staged presentations.

(I liked the Waterloo one – even if I do not like static displays)

>Do you mind if I use the ones of our Dux Bellorum game to put on my blog? (Steve)
No problem, Steve.
>How do you get such good depth of field? (Schogun)
Too little space to give a full answer here, I'm afraid. But I can pass on one tip that you all will find useful. If, like most wargamers, you have a compact digital camera, try setting it on a 2 second timer. When you depress the button, hold the camera as firmly as you can as you wait for the photo to be taken. Keep the camera as still as possible until the image appears in the viewfinder. You'll find that your photos are much sharper as a result.
