The thread title says it all: what are you using for drop pods in 15mm games? Are there any existing drop pod minis out there that are scale appropriate (other than the Khurasan bug dumper)? Using something kit bashed? Example pics?

Do you mean the Khurasan Combat Insertion Pod?

That's what I use. 1 per 4-man Fireteam or 1 HW Team

I like the idea of this model being used as dropped remote fire centers…pop a handful into the deadman's zone, open areas behind enemy lines, etc. and let the center be a robot noting movement and cutting loose with data to the good guys and bullets down range for the bad guys :)

I would think any series of interesting structure laid out in a similar pattern could pass for such a thing.

My favorite are plastic easter eggs (cut to look like someone broke out of them) scattered across the field…

My friend is using several of these from Poundland:

grab one of the random 15mm containers and modify it alittle and make it a drop pod square like the space above and beyond ones

Aside from having to give GW more money, both the troop pods and the dreadnaught pods are pretty nice. A bit tall, but that means space for weapons systems on an upper deck.

Isn't there one for Halo Micro Ops series?

quite awhile back(maybe 1999), there was an article in white dwarf on home made drop pods.
they used those plastic, barrel shaped drink boxes. you know what i mean. those incredible sugery drinks that come in blue, red and orange.
anyway, they primed and painted them and attached them to an oval shapped base with the pod on its side and the nose somewhat burried in dirt. they looked great, if not a bit to small for 40k. these will look great next to 15mm.

I saw a nice one in a GW modeling/paiting guide made out of a ball cock (float in a toilet tank) and plasticard.
