I love reading about unique weapons and here is another I wasn't aware of. Robert

WB-81Z
"The Ju-87D and the attack variants of the FW-190 could mount a WB-81Z below the wing to engage enemy infantry , this contain 3 MG-81z tilted down 32 degrees so the aircraft shoot downwards even in level flight, this layout unleash a rate of more than 9000 rpm… กกก quite a Minigun."

Have you come across anything that says how much ammo was in the pods? ISTR that it was 1000 rounds per gun (ie 6000 rounds total) but it's been 20 years since I researched this and my memory is unclear on this point.

cheers

Heya KB. Thats just in the source I quoted. perhaps the person quoted was thinking of the total of the multiple gun arrangement? Robert

I've seen this quoted elsewhere,

"An MG81Z had a ROF of 3200 RPM ie 1600 RPM per barrel"
