"The Martin Marietta SM-68A/HGM-25A Titan I was the United States' first multistage Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). Incorporating the latest design technology when designed and manufactured, the Titan I provided an additional nuclear deterrent to complement the U.S. Air Force's SM-65 Atlas missile. It was the first in a series of Titan rockets, but was unique among them in that it used LOX and RP-1 as its propellants, while the later Titan versions all used storeable fuels instead. Though the SM-68A was operational for only three years, it was an important step in building the Air Force's strategic nuclear forces." From Wiki.

All long deactivated and relics of the cold war. Some of the missile launch complexes turned into apartments by the pony-tail set |

At least one silo is being refurbished as a doomsday retreat. |

I recall there was one for sale in the Denver area when I was in highschool. I think the asking price was $1 USD million. It included a fairly large parcel of land around the silo itself. I'd be worried about hydrazine residue and whatnot in addition to the general unpleasantness of living in a dank concrete hole in the ground. |

There's one site in Arizona that has been turned into a museum by former members of the wing stationed there: titanmissilemuseum.org BWW |

Wasn't the fuel both corrosive and unstable? I seem to recall a silo in Arkansas or Missouri blowing. |

'Wasn't the fuel both corrosive and unstable? ' According to a buddy who served on them (maint unit), yes the liquid fuel was a major problem. He was never happier than when he transferred to the Minuteman. |

There's a Nike site available just up the road from me. Definitely a fixer-upper as all three magazines are flooded. :-( Too bad, it would make a great VaultTech location. |
