The recent influx of interesting figures warrants consideration of the ones that are not too poke' and are more mon(ster)! I am looking through the many many many toys/figures/gashapon, so do not feel you have to stick to the newest versions
2"-4" is the range we are looking at
Mewtwo is a good one
Kabutops is classic cool
Absol
Just to mention a few
do you have any in your giant monster stocks bin?

Too cute for my taste in monsters but I do like the concept. I was a fan of Bandai's 'Navia Dratp' game a while back
the only 'collectible' game I've been sucked into (featuring rubbery figures no less!) and it was something of a distant relation to the Pokemon
but with darker/meaner looking critters (mostly), some of which were fairly large but still far smaller than most Kaiju. |

I have found that most of the evolved or legendary forms of Pokemon work well with giant monster gaming. -Ken Radioactive Press |

I wouldn't hestitate to use them in kaiju games, especially at ANime Boston! To date, I don't have any giant ones. Though I do populate my dungeon with tiny pokéverm swarm critters =^,^=

Agreed, many of the "big boys" have a touch more serious to them. Giratina
Deoxys
Heatran
Palkia
Zekrom
Rayquaza
Lugia

I thought I was pushing the envelope with the Voltron thread. . .but THIS?! I look at the pics above and see 'kidified' versions of (top to bottom) Destroyah, Hedorah, Anguirus, MechaG, Manda, and a Gyaos. I guess I just prefer the real articles! These would be ideal to get youngsters into games, tho. |

If you game with WH40K epic scale troops versus monsters do not forget the Gormiti range they remind me of the digimon who were similar to pokemon link They range from 2 inch upwards and are good monsters in 28mm games too.I have borrowed my boys fire and nature ones a lot for gaming. |

Come on guys
the average Pokemon reminds one of Ultraman's monsterous enemies :) And yes it would an easy in to get younger ones involved. Side note, I never got into voltron
always seemed too goofy lol. |

I agree 28mmMan, many of the Pokemon designs are no sillier or kiddie than many of the Ultraman monsters we've seen through the years. I play games that use toys as well as design them. For me it doesn't matter what the figures look like as long as they are providing the gaming experience I am looking for. I think its time to go take another look at those miniature My Little Pony figures. I think an evil genius just used his giant crayola ray at the local stables and sent a herd of oversized technicolor horses on a rampage. ;) -Ken Radioactive Press |

MLP may be a bridge too far :( Lol |

I think most gamers would love to unleash Godzilla on a herd of My Little Ponies. Or perhaps you could mod them into My Little Post-Apocalyptic Mutants? Seriously, to each his own. Pokemon don't float my boat aesthetically, but Ultraman and Voltron do – couldn't tell you why! That was a funny line in a recent Big Bang Theory wasn't it? Howard's wife restricted his spending money, and he told Raj, "Sorry, I can't eat today. I spent my allowance on Pokemons." |

I'm sure they are, but I have considered using them as a possible choice when I run Atomic Super Humans demos for the kids. -Ken Radioactive Press |

Those Gormiti figures are a bit more my taste. I could see doing a repaint on this guy
or this one
or these
for a bit of Ultraman flavor. I think my lack of fervor for the Pokemon is that they don't look very mean/angry
are a bit lacking in scales/claws/fangs/spikes/bumps. Those bigger versions are a bit better though. |

I don't know about the rest of the world, but the Gormiti figures have been marked down and removed from store shelves over a year ago (here in GA). You can still find them every once in a while for a good discount. The only thing I didn't like about the Gormiti figures was that they all had very similar body shapes. -Ken Radioactive Press |

I'm waiting for the big screen version of Godzilla versus Snorlax. Until that comes out, no pokemonsters for me

Lol, truthfully the pokemon aspect was just a possible option for some
I prefer the more organic types like the Tyranids but I do appreciate some of the pokemon for the variety and ease of access. :) |

I just picked up some vinyl figures for Pokemon, Digimon, and Power Rangers (dinosaur zord) from HLJ. I'm surprised and very happy at the number of vinyl figures being released at or around the standard 6" scale these days both in Japan and the U.S. -Ken Radioactive Press |
