Great film tho, despite the casting of George Chakiris as the most Greek Norwegian ever.

Great movie! I have a copy so I'll have to watch it again soon.

George Chakiris was a studio actor so he came with the funding.

The special effects obviously didn't, but to see and hear so many mosquitos, fantastic.

George Lucus credits his "Star War" battle of the trench on the death star to watching "633 Squadron" as child. So that movie made a big impact to a later generation.

Actually, I think that was 617 Sqdrn, if I'm not mistaken.

Still, this one is an excellent, epic movie.

Surprised no one has done a "get the Tirpitz" movie yet.

No 633 Squadron is the one that Lucas credits, Mosquitoes flying down a steep narrow gorge against concentrated Flak and fighters trying to put bombs on a pin point target.

Who was the great Aussie cricketer who flew mossie's who was once asked about "pressure" during a big match and said, if you've has a Messerschmidt up your ass, then pressure is not an issue? – I paraphrase…

Also maybe the RAF's early and fairly suicidal Tornado low level Gulf War 1 tactics were a bit influenced by to many commanders watching this movie ;)

Ah, I see.

I'd read it was 617 in several reviews, but see how they can easily get the two confused.

Thanks for the clarification.
