Three player Giant Monster Rampage report.

Comet Silverheels has struck the Tonto district of Kimosabe, the city's financial heart. The core hovers above the impact crater while nine smaller fragments lay nearby all emitting minus-energy.

Impact, where The Happy Insurance Tower once stood.

The minus-energy radiation acts like monster adrenaline and has attracted three local kaiju: Gomora, Birdon, and Gubila; each seeks to absorb the power from space to become the dominant monster on the planet. Once a monster has 5 fragments they may absorb the power from the core and win. Monsters gain fragments by moving to them or by reducing another monster to 0 wounds.

The monsters begin absorbing the power of the fragments, combat is long range.

Before

Gomora approaches Birdon, Gubila in the background.

After

picture

With a mighty flap Birdon sends Gomora flying (knockback 19")

An unfortunate sequence of events.

The un-dextrous (sinister?) Gubila attempts to bury himself to avoid a fireball from Birdon, his spectacular failure leaves him wide open, the blast also damages nearby buildings causing the air ambulance on the roof of St. Semilia's Hospital to explode further wounding Gubila and knocking him into flaming rubble.

With all the fragments absorbed.

picture

Gubila got 4, Birdon 3, and Gomora 2. The fighting moves close in.
picture

A pounce and energised drill bring Birdon down while Gomora uses his extended reach Mega-Ton Tail. Gubila now has 5 fragments and moves to the core. Despite energy blasts and desperate natural attacks Gomora cannot stop Gubila.

Deep Sea Monster Gubila wins. His eyes turn toward Tokyo. His power is so great he can barely contain it.

The un-dextrous (sinister?) Gubila

Ye gods, you should do prison time for that one.

Nice setup, looks like it was a good game. I really ought to pick up the current version of the GMR rules one of these days – I was a big fan of 1st edition, back when it was – what, Mystic Eye games, maybe? – publishing it.

Very cool! I love the mini for Gubila, it's awesome! Looks like it was a fun game!

[sigh], those gashapons are so cool that now I have to track down my own! The 'nar-whale' one is certainly unique.

Consuming pieces of cosmic comet is a nicely thought out 'objective'!

Makes me sorry I threw away all my old foam. Beautiful layout.

Awesome battle report! I am so jealous of your set up.

I have considered looking into getting some foam cut into similar sizes to sell as a "city in a box" for GMR.

Looks like a great deal of fun!

:)

Thanks for the comments. If you are looking for a Gubila he is just as often spelt Gubira.

The blocks are from foam trays of these two types link which gives 3 sizes of block 68x44mm 60x49mm and 60x75mm all 25mm tall. You could get more blocks per tray if you didn't want to use them as trays and they should be cheaper without a base sheet. Erik at Figures In Comfort is very helpful. This city was 6'x4' using about 280 blocks.

Very cool!

This looks like a absolute hoot to play. I really like the hovering core idea. Really nicely done.

I just saw on HLJ that Bandai has a 6" vinyl version of Gubila.
