Let's take this to DEFCON 1. Stifle The Editor.

Do it …if you think you're hard enough.

evil grin evil grin

Sadly my vow of no stifling won't allow that…not even in the service of a full blown TMP meltdown evil grin

Mako1109 Apr 2013 2:59 p.m. PST

GW's miniatures are underpriced, and they need to update their rules more frequently.

ubercommando09 Apr 2013 3:24 p.m. PST

YES it DOES matter what exact shade Napoleonic uniforms should be.

Star Wars, New Battlestar Galactica, JJ Abrams' Star Trek…all rubbish!

Before you even think about joining a wargames club you must have a complete painted army for our favourite historical era and based to our favourite rules system.

The D6 is the work of Satan. It produces only predictable and facile results that completely negate the accuracy of the simulation.

Donald Featherstone ate my hamster.

The Carlist Wars are a myth concocted by a cabal of 28mm figure manufacturers in order to sell products.

…at some point I've gone from trying to get stilfed to becoming a paranoid delusional. Still, my stilfe count is 3.

I'm Tango01.

(Enought to said and win 100 stifles in a month) (big smile).

I love to paint Austrians.

The Tin Dictator09 Apr 2013 4:22 p.m. PST

Wellington really lost at Waterloo. If it hadn't been for the Prussian's timely arrival we would all be speaking French.

Mel Gibson loves the British.

The blonde Nikita was way better than the asian Nikita.
But Mrs Peel will always be best.

Gazzola09 Apr 2013 4:46 p.m. PST

If you want to increase your stifle count – just disagree and offer a different viewpoint- Works every time!

Nobody could disagree with that.

richardmkii09 Apr 2013 4:58 p.m. PST

I seem to be able to get stifled by just trying to talk on this board, so here goes.

Blah, blah yakity yakity blah blah blah.
Also I thing Games workshop miniatures are cartoonish, overrated and all the figures look constipated. Ya know like they are trying to drop a load.

brevior est vita09 Apr 2013 5:10 p.m. PST

Last time, this one generated some over-the-top vitriolic responses, several stifles, AND an admonition to "stop whining" from the OFM…

Should the "Stifle" button be renamed to the "Ignore" button?

Mako1109 Apr 2013 5:24 p.m. PST

Man, what's a guy gotta do around here to get another one?

Still unchanged from this morning.

My morale is flagging………

sneakgun09 Apr 2013 5:53 p.m. PST

Stifles are for those that wear Depends, Unpainted miniatures is the only way to play, D6s are for the mathematically challenged and wall to wall tanks are the epitome of strategy and the cheessier the army list the better the player.

Charles Marlow09 Apr 2013 5:55 p.m. PST

Lol, I figured-out an excellent way to increase my stifles some time ago…
Some of you won't be able to read this, oh, and I've used variants of a theme, anyway:

"Stifles are used by bedshitters. And no, stifles don't have anything to do with Mom, apple pie, free speech etc."

MST3Klover09 Apr 2013 6:12 p.m. PST

Shouldn't this whole thread be moved over to Utter Drivel?

Sparker09 Apr 2013 7:36 p.m. PST

Wellington really lost at Waterloo. If it hadn't been for the Prussian's timely arrival we would all be speaking French.

Nobody could disagree with that.

Least of all Wellington himself, who wrote as much in his official report of the battle…No news here, people!

Fonthill Hoser09 Apr 2013 7:45 p.m. PST

Yet another useless topic from the ancient flatulence. And of course his sycophants fall into line and post here as commanded by His Majesty the OFM. Yawn.

Tuudawgs09 Apr 2013 8:02 p.m. PST

This Parrot is dead. It is a dead parrot!!!

Rrobbyrobot09 Apr 2013 8:16 p.m. PST

Ok, let's see…
I like and admire the Editor, John the OFM and Tango. There are others but that won't offend anyone so why write a longer list.
I stifle others freely. all you have to do is make my blood pressure rise.
I used to play Napoleonics and enjoyed Empire rules.
If I can think of anything else I'll be back.

Fonthill Hoser09 Apr 2013 8:32 p.m. PST

Hey, it works! I got a stifle less than 1 hour after my previous post.

Hoser

Mako1109 Apr 2013 9:38 p.m. PST

In the 40,0000th Law of Economics, the price someone is willing to pay for their miniatures is directly, inversely proportional to their intellect.

You heard it here first folks.

Pictors Studio09 Apr 2013 9:42 p.m. PST

Stifles are for the weak minded that can't come up with logical arguments to combat those with whom they disagree. The reasoning infringes on their world view and they can't take it. So rather than try to keep up, they stifle.

badwargamer10 Apr 2013 2:42 a.m. PST

Lovely display game you've got there. Lovely figures, well painted and really nice terrain. What battle is it?…..What do you mean it's just a scenario?..You go to all the effort and expense to put that on and you can't be bothered to read a magazine, book or look something up on the internet. I suppose that'll explain the ridiculous amount of super tanks you have on the table….So why are you in the historical wargames section?…shouldn't you be in the other hall with all the smelly, bumcrack showing, black leather coated uniformed 'individual' fantasy wargamers?

WeeWars10 Apr 2013 3:02 a.m. PST

Being an older wargamer doesn't count for anything. It just means you've been making mistakes for longer.

Gazzola10 Apr 2013 3:41 a.m. PST

DEATH TO THE STIFLE!

Gazzola10 Apr 2013 3:48 a.m. PST

Piffling 170 odd stiflers are just not trying hard enough. They will never outdo me, the Emperor of Stifles. I've already taken the stifle crown from Sparker. Where's the competition? Come on, put some effort into it, you lot!

WeeWars10 Apr 2013 4:30 a.m. PST

This is the stifler who will outdo us all, I guess.

Cyclops10 Apr 2013 5:56 a.m. PST

I picked up an extra one.
Let's try again…Firefly is Bleeped text.

basileus6610 Apr 2013 6:28 a.m. PST

41 stifles.

Here I go: Napoleon has been vastly overstated as general. He was a good commander in chief, but his tactics were average, at best. Wellington was a better tactician than Napoleon, hands down, and that's why he defeated him at Waterloo. Yes, certainly he had some help from the Prussians, but the final merit is his.

I think that would deserve at least a couple of stifles…

Tango01 Supporting Member of TMP10 Apr 2013 11:21 a.m. PST

Hope you get your two stifles soon!. (big smile).

I won't play AWI because the baddies won.

ACW is like Napoleonics…only rubbish.

Still only 3 stifles. Not trying hard enough.

Basileus66 – considering that you've more or less repeated my post (see page 1 of this thread) I wouldn't hold out much hope for a big stifle increase. Not a single extra one for me even though I posted yesterday.

Cyclops10 Apr 2013 1:16 p.m. PST

Dammit! I've actually lost a stifle since my unwarranted attack on the Best SF Show Ever. I'm obviously not up to this.

ROFLMAO !

CHuDWah10 Apr 2013 8:30 p.m. PST

Increasing one's count may be a mildly amusing contest. But the serious stiflegamer knows the true test of skill is decreasing the ratio. To do so, one must garner maximum stifles with minimum posts. That is, each post must be so offensive that it generates multiple stifles.

I'm in the running with a 7.33 ratio. So come on stiflers – lay on!

Tango01 Supporting Member of TMP10 Apr 2013 10:25 p.m. PST

I had increased three!!
I won the contest … again. (smile).

I've stifled the whole lot of you as mine is the only opinion that counts. Except for Sparker, as he's never said anything controversial………

streetline11 Apr 2013 4:04 a.m. PST

I picked one up. Weird.

Etranger11 Apr 2013 4:15 a.m. PST

The blank space above was one of mine!

Why anyone would stifle Tango01 really is beyond me. But then again, TMP is merely a microcosm of the world we live in so there must be plenty of strange and easily-offended types out there.

ubercommando11 Apr 2013 6:52 a.m. PST

Woo hoo! I got me a FOURTH stifle! In the last 24 hours I have made one comment that could have got me stifled: I wanted to find a good painting guide for a late Republican Roman army. Who knew that was such a hot button topic?

jtkimmel11 Apr 2013 7:13 a.m. PST

Hard to pick someone to stifle when you agree with some of the comments and get a good laugh from the rest. If I had stifled someone, I would have missed out!

ubercommando11 Apr 2013 11:14 a.m. PST

I agree with John the OFM about everything that he's ever said.

…that should see a dramatic rise.

Militia Pete11 Apr 2013 3:48 p.m. PST

Nice

Last Hussar11 Apr 2013 4:21 p.m. PST

US users of TMP are precious little flowers who can dish it out, but can't take it. Question the validity of hating a rule set based on its name, and you attract all sort of hate.

However state you will refuse to play a game that has a name based on a US TV series that hasn't been shown in Britain, in an attempt to get a reaction, and you will gain reaction in Spades.

badwargamer12 Apr 2013 4:01 p.m. PST

only 3 so far….but they may not even be from this! who knows..who cares! :-)

Cyclops13 Apr 2013 5:26 a.m. PST
